Hey guys, I just sent a transaction for 342BTC out of a wallet from a new account. I thought it would prompt me for a fee like it did the first time I sent something from that wallet, but it didn't. So, now I'm afraid this transaction will get lost and never go into the next block chain. Is there anything I can do to try to get it to go through? Please help, I'm really stressing out right now. Thanks.

Not all transactions (especially ones of that size) will require a fee. Check blockchain.info with your address to confirm that the bitcoins were sent and received.

Thanks for the reply. Here's what I can find:
Summary Size 436 (bytes) Received Time 2012-04-23 03:41:13 Estimated Confirmation time Unknown / Never Relayed by ip 127.0.0.1 (whois) Visualize View Dendrogram
Inputs & Outputs Total Input 342.1995 BTC Total Output 342.1995 BTC Fees 0 BTC Estimated BTC Transacted 342.199 BTC Scripts Show scripts & coinbase
That's all the info I get. The other transactions I have done have gone through within minutes and it's been almost 3 hours since I sent this one! Is there any way I can add a fee to it now, or offer to pay someone to do the transaction?

With no fee, it will take longer. Maybe even an entire day. I can't tell you why it didn't ask for a fee, but no you cannot add a fee after the fact; what's done is done.
You just need to sit it out and wait.

"About spam. To protect the network the protocol requires a fee of 0.0005 BTC if the inputs are less than 1 bitcoin day old*. For example if you received 1 bitcoin and wanted to spent it you would have to wait 1 day to avoid a fee. If you received 10 bitcoins you would need to wait 1/10th of day. If you received 0.1 BTC and wanted to spend it you would need to wait 10 days."
Do you know if this is true? According to this I would have had to wait 4.21 minutes before sending my transaction, which I doubt I did.
Thanks for the help. I'm trying to be patient and calm down, but I just have a bad feeling.

Stop freaking out, the money is not gone, it's just in limbo. You have two options:
1) Ask piuk if he could clear that transaction from the database or get Eligius to mine it. 2) Pull the private key and import it into another client so that you can construct a double-spend or even manually construct a double-spend (trust me, doing it manually sucks, but at least the tools for doing so are much better than they use to be).

Excellent advice I'm sure, I just have no idea what it means. Who are piuk and Eligius and how do I contact them?
If I clear the transaction, do the coins go back into my wallet?
I apologize for the ignorance. This is all very new to me. Thank you for the help.

Piuk is the owner of Blockchain.info (your wallet provider). Piuk is his username on this forum. It also happens that Blockchain.info has a mining contract with Eligius, so it might just turn out that instead of removing the transaction, Piuk might just have Eligius mine it. If you need this resolved immediately, however, you should import the private key for the address into another client. Since you said that you're sending the amount to MtGox, what you could do is go to the Import/Export section of My Wallet (on Blockchain.info), click the "Export Unencrypted" tab, then change the format to Sipa. Find your address (15i4NW9RHcXhBausTtX3vR6cZW5VMNWK3U) and then copy the contents of "priv" below it. That's the encoded private key, and it should start with a 5. You can then copy that into MtGox as one of the deposit options. Just be aware that once you do this, all future funds sent to that address will be swept into MtGox, so you should stop using that address for other things.

"Private address added to your virtual wallet with address 15i4NW9RHcXhBausTtX3vR6cZW5VMNWK3U. 342.19950000 BTC will be sent to your account."
That's amazing! Thank you soooo much. Assuming that actually worked, I will be donating a couple BTC. Thanks again.

You are the terror of the bitcoin network. First you spam it, now you're into double spends.

The reason why your transaction did not get confirmed is due to the very small 0.0005 BTC change output. There was a bit of a bug in My Wallet where it was not checking the change output when calculating the fees, this has now been fixed. Also your BTC would never be lost due to this. After 24 hours pending it would be "returned" to you and you would be able to spend the funds again.

6 confirmations, like normal. So, it should be there by now.
