http://www.kwtx.com/ourtown/home/headlines/Killeen--Prosecutor-Will-Seek-Death-Penalty-In-Police-Officers-Death-274000421.htmlThey never found drugs or anything incriminating at the man's house. This was a "no-knock" raid where police don't identify themselves or provide any warning that they are about to knock down your house with guns drawn and tear gas thrown. Hundreds of these are conducted yearly. Don't they figure by now that breaking down someone's door at 5 am in the morning without identifying yourself as POLICE is a bad idea? Now that someone got shot, the poor guy who was just trying to defend himself and his property will be facing the death penalty. U.S.A, land of the "free".

If they are doing that on my home I probably could do the same. They can be real police or pretending to be police who knows.

+1 I think I'd have a pretty good chance of winning the case too. People barging into your house at 5am? I'd shoot first as well.

Police should always identify themselves.
What about criminals who pretend to be police? They should just wait for them to leave and get them as they're coming out rather than this way.

This is the kind of thing that starts civil wars and revolutions.
Not any more.. your means to wage one has been taken form you... The entire idea of your country was to never late that happen and then.... everyone got scared of some fake video on the telly. They'd kill 90% of you to ensure the other 10% put the shackles on.

If you read further into this story the guy had drug paraphenelia and was linked to an informant. This is not an innocent man just doing his daily thing when Cops mistakenly broke his door down.
If you read more, the drug paraphernalia was a "glass tube" that could be used to take drugs - it doesn't say if this was a crack pipe or a bong, and could just be a glass tube - and it says they did the raid based on informant's information only, without bothering to corroborate or investigate the informant's story further, and informants are often forced to give up information under pressure, with promises that they will get some leniency in their sentencing, so they lie just to give the cops anything.

It's not legal to do what he did? How are you supposed to know they are police if there is no warrant or badges shown?
Is there more detail to the story?

When acting like criminal, risk is you will be treated like criminal.
So if i was in home owner shoes-first shoot and than asking questions.
No one ever asked them to come without invitation. In europe is similar but with this difference we haven't got guns. But once you in my house and doors will close behind you first is the beating and than is questioning.

Can't be, the state is right about everything, even when they're wrong.
