Cam4BTC has moved to a new host as riush (member here at Bitcointalk) has generously offered to host both the website and the other server software I need for free until further notice. This should bring stability and allows me to keep the software up-to-date.

I have updated the DNS but this can take up to 48 hours to propagate (it is usually much faster though). Press control+F5 and if you see you are running v0.8 you know you have made the switch.

• regulation of broadcasters
• much better streaming/video quality most likely via fallback to use a server as a repeater.
• many interface improvements like preview of other cams, chat history, bookmarks, ...
• at least one interesting channel at any time. I assume your test broadcast is streaming content that will not get you in trouble. Maybe you should rather get some girl from myfreecams or any other such site to also stream to your system for x USD/h. I heard of somebody who knows somebody who has seen girls stream to different sites there already. I guess what gets people to pay for is not naked girls but getting connected to these girls and therefore canned content will not work. Guess it wouldn't even need to be porn.
• alternative ways of payment at least for now (which would again require logins).

out of curiosity:

• How long do you log IP addresses?
• Do you store streams/snapshots?

To start: I am not a fan of regulation. I am currently working on a scheduling feature so people know when a show will be on (maybe you meant this with regulation? ). Note that this is still <v1.0 software and I am still improving it. Note that I like to work iteratively and expand based on feedback. The test channel is merely there to test the quality of the stream and to see how it works, I could also stream a non-porn movie if you prefer

With respect to the quality. I have been o a channel last Friday night at 5 am my time or something with a guy and his stream was clear as can be. He was streaming at 24 fps and it was coming across fine. Any normal internet connection should be able to reach the speeds I am (I upload at 8fps 75% quality and 640x480), and even for solutions where content is streamed to the server a minimum bandwidth is required. Maybe the settings for the video quality could be further optimized though. I agree the interface needs many improvements (although I am a big fan of minimalism). Care to submit a design?

I am currently not planning on hiring people to perform shows. I am in contact with people that are interested to perform but that require a few improvements to be made. Also the fallback stream option would defeat the purpose of this site as that would vastly increase the cost (thus forcing me to charge fees) and would require me to regulate (id) broadcasters which would defeat the anonymity and leightweightness of the site.  Remember I am not trying to compete with MFC, I would surely lose if I did. And patience is key. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I don't like the design of MFC to much neither as on 16:9 half the screen is chat, some part the links to the other channels, quite some part task bar and browser menus and not even half the screen actual video. I like their snapshots on the other channels and some other features
Disclaimer: I was thinking about doing something like this in bitcoin when I first saw MFC and find the idea totally mind blowing not only for porn and not only for video. Why not tip a live audio streaming from some event.

The channel list should be a drop down hovering over the video. When I open it (click to open, click to close) it should list snapshots of all channels + name + visitor count.
To get the user right into the experience, the landing page could be a welcome video streamed in a loop with some girl pointing out of her video to the elements of the site. "click here to ...". (Gah, I can't find this cool promo video they had on youtube once where some action hero is being shot at by evil guys in the other (fake) preview videos on youtube and shoots back with the youtube layout in ashes in the end you know what i mean.)

My nick and preference to watch or stream should be saved in a cookie! it's annoying to have to provide them each time.

Hmm ... for the rest I see now your ambitions are not short term profit. Fair enough. Hope you can keep making it better as long as it takes to get a solid user base.

Thanks a lot for the feedback I will take it into consideration. Some things will get done sooner than others. For instance the flash cookies are something I will do rather quickly while the user interface revamp is more complex (also for getting the required information, like the stream preview). The video idea is really cool but if it get's done the user interface should have matured more I think. I like the ideas though.

And btw it is entirely possible to only broadcast an audio stream on the site. Maybe cam4btc isn't the best name for that though

Version 0.9 is out. I added a scheduling mechanism: Broadcasters can schedule shows and both broadcasters and viewers alike can view the schedule. This way people will know when someone will be on in advance and can check back.

I hope this will help with broadcasters and viewers finding each other

Also, if a broadcaster stops and restarts stream, audio will resume quickly while the video just freezes for a while. After a while (like 30 seconds) it does go o, if you want this to be quicker just go to and leave full screen mode and it will continue immediately. I have not been able to mimic this programmatically yet so I'm working on that

Yesterday night we had a record of 29 people online at the same time and 2 broadcasts at the same time. I want to thank dino_rawr and ENTerTheDragonfly for performing the broadcasts.
Also thanks to everyone that came to watch.
I wasn't there myself due to it being in the middle of the night in my timezone but I got reports of people that really enjoyed it

the last times i tried i had issues. on chromium the "Allow blablabla" window did not react on my click and on firefox I saw dino_rawr was online but clicking on his "show" I neither got sound nor video after allowing.

Feature request: The schedule needs a link so the performers can give some introduction although this might be an invitation to link spam :/ Maybe a description without link is more realistic?

regarding the issues:

1) On Linux problems with the allow button are a known issue in some Desktop environments. I am not sure what causes it but Adobe points at the Desktop environments and vice versa. I don't think Adobe will do anything but I read that Unity ios close to fixing it. Gone is not known to have the problem if I am correct.
2) Not getting sound or video is weird if you were sure she is broadcasting. Did you receive chat? Did you try to reconnect?

I could add something along those lines but didn't want to waste to much time on the user interface so I kept it simple for now and moved on to BlockChain related features. I can see your request as adding value of course

v 0.10 is out with donation address verification. If you enter an address <34 characters I will attempt to resolve the firstbits using BlockChain.info, if you enter a 34 character complete address I will verify it is a correct address. No more making typo's [disabling donation addresses altogether is also supported]

This is also preliminary work to being able to show donations being made live in chat. I needed to be sure I was working with valid Bitcoin addresses before I could work on that.
