Last I checked, merged mining it alongside bitcoins etc (SHA256) didn't work. Was that ever fixed? If not is there any intention of eventually fixing it?

Yes all that got fixed as far as the merge mining and stratum ect.
I noticed the other day F2Pool (Discus Fish) pulled a bunch of SCRYPT power off it it because the SCRYPT blocks stopped falling.
It appears it is slowly being turned back on and the SCRYPT blocks are being found again.

I would like to eventually be able to draw up some sort of HUC game featuring the characters and have it PVP but set along the lines of Final fantasy games.. that would be cool!
