Now I'm paranoid. I think I downloaded the wallet from a post in this thread but I can't remember which. Did it really have a virus?

hackers infiltrating threads is a common occurrance on this forum with link to virus infected wallets is nothing new. it's why you only trust the OP links

yeah but why am I getting this, now, and from the installer that came from the seedcoin dev and this official thread??

are you sure you downloaded it from the first post or from someone else's post on this thread. that one had a virus

Check those posts here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=795954.180

Yeah because I had the address only wallet that came first and book marked the thread, I saw those posts about the virus when they where first on this thread and have been mining and depositing to my wallet since the full one was released, I've just bought seed coin too!! my kaspersky is even blocking the wallet download from the http://seed-coin.com/ page!!

I'm very dubious here now guys, I want this coin too but now I'm a bit freaked out!!! Dev do you want to weigh in here?

How does staking work, from the user perspective? Is it as simple as holding coins in a wallet and keeping the wallet running? I decided to mine a few and see what happens. I'd like to stake what I mine. How do I do that?

Was there ever a legit post within this thread with a download link that wasn't virus infected? If not I think I may be in trouble. I haven't noticed anything unusual since downloading it two days ago but I don't have any virus protection either.

I don't even trust devs. I don't download wallets during the first week and I always check to see if someone mentions anything about virus in wallets.
I saw a couple of times where devs released wallets with viruses last minutes before launch.

If you downloaded it from the first post or the coin website I think it's OK. Someone posted a link to a wallet containing virus on page 8 I think. Now the post is deleted.

You hold coins in your wallet, either un-encrypted (not recommended) or encrypted and then unlocked with the box checked for "staking only." Once your coins mature (min 24 hours, takes longer for less than 1 coin as others have experienced), they will then attempt to stake, if they don't stake, their "weight" increases. They can only stake once per maturity period (roughly 24 hours).

The lock in the bottom right corner will be unlocked when you are able to stake, then you can see if your coins are mature by hovering over the up arrow.

Ok, windows users: here's the password protected wallet:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/21yccfxu0njdxid/seedcoin-qt.zip?dl=0

Password will be posted at the very top of the OP at launch.

If you downloaded the address wallet to participate in the ico, be sure to delete everything in %appdata%/seedcoin except for your wallet.dat. DO NOT DELETE wallet.dat. Back it up as well, just for good practice.

I just looked through the thread and I believe this is the post I downloaded the wallet from. I think I'm in the clear. I was panicking there for a minute.  Shocked

Just want to add I don't use Kaspersky but my virus protection tried to delete my seedcoin wallet (It has done it to a few I have had)  However it does it based on false positives.  You either need to set it up for manual verification to delete, or restore it if possible.  If not just re-download and use your back-up!

Is there an ETA on a Mac wallet or at least a Github to review the code for anything shady and build a Mac wallet ourselves?

Go check for your "shady" code and build a Mac wallet.

Its going to be funny to watch the %drop in price after/during the growth period. The "value" will drop 5000% per coin (which is offset by growth). but will be funny to see.  I just hope I can stake as I am not gonna get to 1 seed . . . IMO should have kept the coin off the markets for a bit... Would have avoided the multipools raping the coin (like they are now)

I hope the price does crash so they will go away lol

It's really amusing watching this pump.
2 hours ago price was 0.074 and nobody was buying.
Now the price is almost 0.2 btc and suddenly people are buying.
Yeah, alright! You almost got me!!!  Grin

It was at .074 earlier today so .05 wasn't far off. The buy support isn't filling in so there is no much pressure to make it fall. You know how to read markets so don't be silly =)

I just am curious on the code. Always like to look for hidden blocks and other goofy things. Looks good and building for Mac now.

Thanks, sounds simple enough. I downloaded the wallet and am now waiting for it to sinc--it's taking a while. But I won't have any mature coins for at least another 24 hours. I'll check back if I have any more questions after that Smiley
