I was able to unlock it but it wasn't stable in Windows.  I tried increasing the vcore but it didn't prove successful.  At the time I was using memory rated at 1600MHz so I'm not sure if that was the issue there or what.  Includes just the CPU.

Gigabyte GA-A75-UD4H A75 FM1 Motherboard -- $85 (1 left) sold to serp
Both were used in conjunction with the FM1 CPUs that are also for sale.  I absolutely loved these boards.  They have all of the top end components (8+2 phase, 8x/8x PCIe, lots of USB 3.0, and several onboard video ports) making it priced competitively with other AMD boards.  Includes I/O shield, SATA 6Gb/s cables, driver CD, and manual in retail packaging.  Note that this board has 5 PCIe slots!  I have tested up to 4 cards on it and it doesn't need any of them to be shorted.  

AMD A6-3500 FM1 Triple-Core APU Processor -- $65 sold to serp
Runs great.  This CPU has integrated graphics (6530D to be exact) which will run most Valve games on medium settings and breezes through any HD encoded video.  Includes stock HSF in retail packaging.  Gets about 40 Mh/s (d intensity).

I'd almost certainly get molested by customs trying to import one of those X79 boards (US to UK)... anyone here got any experience in dealing with that side of things?

Probably because the seller put down the full amount on the customs form - that is what you get taxed on.  I've found that a declaring a low value (>$45) helps a lot.

Where are you located as it varies from country to country.  Also note that these boards are heavy.  Oddly enough Express Mail can sometimes be a few dollars more than Priority as the packaging weight increases.
