The coins are basically the same except for some technical differences. The main element that distinguishes them is their respective community. Dogecoin's is usually perceived as more fun, light-hearted and charitable, while Litecoin's is somewhat more tech-oriented and mature.

doge/btc seemed quite good now for a couple of days it seems doge did not suffer such a huge drop sold at profit ! cool ! i'm not holding it for long term although i'd like to, but... who knows... future is full of surprises... its one of the few coins i'd like to succeed along with btc
