There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. Server-assisted clients like blockchain.info rely on centralized servers to do their network verification for them. Although the server can't steal the client's bitcoins directly, it can easily execute double-spending-style attacks against the client.

Its a cautious market. There seems to be more people waiting to buy in $4.x than people willing to buy over $5.0. The market is lopsided, and the selling pressure is ever-weakening. As soon as they realize its going higher, there will be a stampede of risk-avoiders and trend-followers all trying to get in after $5.5, lest they miss the train at the very last minute.
