We’re excited to announce the rebranding of our blockchain as the “ALTHASH” blockchain! HTMLCOIN will remain our company’s utility coin, and the blockchain is unchanged--except for the name. With this rebranding, we will become the only blockchain company in the world that has different names for its blockchain and utility coin. The idea for the change was born on September 17, 2017.

This change is prompted by our desire for the ALTHASH blockchain to be relevant to a wide range of industries beyond the niche market of cryptocurrency: security, quasi-financial payment systems, ecommerce, education, and more. Our goal is to develop products to optimize users’ experiences and, as such, we have many projects in the pipeline, from a token creation portal to gaming systems. “ALTHASH” gives us the fluidity we need to expand into these other areas.

The design and colors of our new logo embody our goals for the ALTHASH blockchain. The hexagonal--or beehive--shape represents the network effect we seek to achieve: we want to create connections and spread technology to other communities. Moreover, commentators have described the leading cryptocurrency market as a six-sided network in which each side (developers, merchants, customers, etc.) strengthens one or more of the others in a continuous cycle.

The hash symbol refers to “hashing,” which is the transformation of a string of characters of any length into a representative fixed-length output. This transformation is accomplished by running the input string through a hashing algorithm.

The logo’s background colors--blue and turquoise--suggest peace and clarity. Their association with the ocean evokes a sense of calm. We selected white for the hash mark because of the color’s many positive connotations: innocence, purity, goodness, cleanliness. When people see white, they think of untouched snow or an angel’s flowing robes. In the case of high-tech products like ours, white conveys a reassuring sense of simplicity.

Blue, turquoise, and white connect well with our motto, pax mundi, which is Latin for “world peace.” Through the ALTHASH blockchain’s transparency, security, and decentralized nature, we hope to encourage a safer, more peaceful world.
