I chat with scammers on a daily basis.  A lot of them ask me for my email address, which I don't want to give out.

It would be GREAT if I could give out an email address of <myusername>@<newforum.com> and such messages would be sent to my personal message inbox.

What do you guys think?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Yeah, I think it's a good idea ... so for example   : vod@bitcointalk.org   or redsn0w@bitcointalk.org ; it's pretty nice if any users can have an email and the email is sent  directly in the personal inbox ( only for receive the email ).

Not sure I'd agree to that. The new forum would need to feature a spam filter and a spam folder, so the PM interface suddenly becomes an email interface ("hey I've written you an email, why do you keep answering me via PM?") and newbitcointalk becomes an email provider, with people signing up just to have another email address.

Yes, I do agree that there would have to be substantial checks in place to prevent spam and abuse - but it's nothing a third party service provider couldn't handle.  As for people signing up JUST for an email address - that begs the question, is the new forum going to require a proper email address and verify it?  If so, there are many other free email providers that don't require any verification.

Bad idea. The forum will have a lot to deal with such as IP blacklisting from people spamming. I believe back in 2011 the forum had issues with IP blacklisting from the automated forum messages.

Like you said, there are lots of free email providers. Best to have forum staff focus on what is important. Maintaining an email service is a lot of extra work.

On a side note, I have heard some suspicious rumors from a number of people that forum staff have violated the privacy of PM messages. It's all FUD at this point, but it was enough to convince me to turn off PM's.

I have private messages disabled. Send me an email instead. My contact details can be found here.

Really it would be nice as we don't want to use our personal email and we can get a dedicated email for forum usage. But I think it would be better if it only for Full Member+ or at-least Member+. Otherwise, like dserrano5 said, people will sign up just to have an email address. We can reach Member very easily, so it would be better if it Full Member+. Roll Eyes Any other suggestions on the restrictions?

This would essentially make it a moot point to have the 360 second rule that was implemented to prevent/slow down scammers. (along with the 5 max PM per hour rule)

I would suggest making a special email address that you only give out on here

IMO people should choose between redirecting to PMs, to a chosen email or to /dev/null
