Just out of curiosity, why are you deciding to sell it?

I played the day it came out, and though it was not really my cup of BTC-gambling tea, it is definitely a unique gambling site in a sea of clones. I've never got any bad vibes from espringe personally, and have seen him handle problems with the site well and paid out all withdraws. However, I'm not going to mention the fact that dooglus trusts him, simply because he was wrong about DiceBitco.in (not just him though- many people were wrong). I would say espringe could most likely be trusted holding the investor funds, although 6 months is a long time. All sorts of accidents and such can happen in a time frame like that.

Also- I would have to agree with whoever said- "Return the players' money and let them decide if they want to trust the new owner or not." This seems to be the safest way of doing it. Has anyone asked any of the users with BTC deposited if they would be cool with someone else holding their BTC for 6 months?
In my opinion it sounds like espringe is trying to help the new owners stay relevant in the competitive world of BTC gambling.

Do not deposit any bitcoins to them until Dooglus signs a message to show it is his.

This owner worked with Dice.Ninja a fair bit and it appears the could be possibly running.

I can sign a message with the address:

I've bid 1BTC on this after Eric said in the troll box that I could. If this is the highest bid at the end of the auction Eric doesn't have to sell it to me since I'm under his reserve.  I just wanted to set a base for this auction cause this is a cool site.  Eric has also agreed I can pay him USD via troll box, but I'll bid in terms of Bitcoin.

Tits.

Thanks doog and sorry if you lost any coinage today.

Way she goes Sad

It's weird. I recently deposited 1 BTC to moneypot to have a bit of a gamble. I made a bunch of bets and eventually got it to 1.5 BTC then withdrew it. I withdrew by copy/pasting my most recent withdrawal address, which as it turned out happened to have been to my dice.ninja deposit address. I had forgotten that I withdrew directly from one site to the other, and had kind of "given up" dice, but now I had 1.5 BTC in a dice site, minus the transaction fee made it 1.4999 or something ugly.

So I played a few rolls, got up to 1.511111 or similar, and withdrew.

Then I checked that the withdrawal had hit my wallet, logged off and went about my day.

When I came back online hours later, moneypot is up for sale, dice.ninja is offline, and the world is once again changed (for the worse). Sad

Other than my accidental deposit and play today, I've not used dice.ninja since I lost a bunch there to a silly martingale sequence. And removed them from my signature when they stopped their proof of solvency. Any site that isn't willing to prove solvency is somewhat suspicious, especially if they're holding investor coins.

I knew this was going to be a issue when I was posting on the forums about it days ago :-/ Good call on the signature pull.

Someone was saying they thought you lost 1000 coins.  I was thinking surely not, but you never know in this crazy fucking Bitcoin world.

Doog if I end up scraping up this site for cheap I'll of course tip you for your time. Thanks you for providing escrow bud.

I like to keep an open mind about people until they show they can't be trusted, but I didn't want to be actively promoting a site which used to prove their solvency and then actively chose to stop doing so "because coinbase".

I was invested for maybe 50 BTC at once point, but pulled out after a bad losing streak. If they had implemented "invest only" accounts I probably would have redeposited. (There's a tip for the next scam you guys pull...)

Eric told me once that he was being extorted by some guy who wanted to buy moneypot from him for $10k, so I guess there will be a bid for at least that much... maybe you'll have some competition.

As for what the site's worth, it's hard to say. The source is all open. Anyone can clone the site right now using the source available on github. So what you're bidding for is pretty much the domain name, the existing customer base, and Eric's support/training/whatever. The site is around 70 BTC in profit, and from what I remember just a few weeks ago it was barely breakeven. A site making 30 BTC per week has to be worth a pretty penny... Smiley

If it's making 30 BTC a week why is he selling though?  It's been asked a number of times by various members here but has never been addressed.

It's a valid question I think.

His family is being threatened and put in danger apparently. He regrets making his identity well known in the beginning to establish a sense of trust.

Someone has been harassing him in various ways: filing abuse reports to his host, DDoS'ing him, threatening him and his family, etc.

He thought it would inspire confidence in players if he was open about his identity, but some asshat has taken advantage of his good nature.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I'm not sure what game you're confusing it with, but moneypot is not an ass game, it's a betting game where you try to predict the crash point, and cash out just ahead of it.

iv been speaking to Eric for about a week about either buying equity or possibly buying the site. When we first spoke he evaluated the company at an outrageous 250k, then a few days later he told me about a company offering him 100k cash and a gaming liscense and what not, but he told me it would mean he would still have to work for the company for salary but he would have to give ownership of moneypot to them. Now he is taking bids of 20 bitcoins for a possibility of selling money pot for just 20 bitcoins. Im a potential buyer but theres these inconsistencies that make weary of bidding. Why would any one turn down 100k, and salary??

If you ask him, he will say it's been alot of work to run it just by himself, and it's become more than he wanted it to be. He just wants to let it go and start on something new. He did in fact get lucky winning all those coins in one week, he isn't guaranteed profit.

So basically he's selling a site which is nothing but problems, that is being attacked, and that has resulted in his own safety being put into question - as well as his family?

If he had an offer for 100k he should have taken it, if it was a real offer at all who knows. Someone above said the source is posted on Github, which means anyone could download and launch a similar service under a different name if they knew what they were doing.

Yea the game is different. But with bitcoin fads are here one day gone the next. Its only a matter of time before this site is old news and something new comes out that everyone runs to. Me personally I lost on Moneypots. Not a lot around .2 BTC, but still it didnt seem like anything more than a pick a number hope it hits that number game.

Not that I could afford to buy it, but that sounds like not a great thing to invest in. I mean basically it's buy my site, comes with attackers, hackers trying to ddos, people trying to harm me, thats crazy.

Just my thoughts on it... but who knows Im sure someone will buy it.

Eric isn't scamming. Eric isn't scamming. Eric isn't scamming. What do you guys not get? Unless you have proof please stop posting, as it's clogging up the thread with garbage.

Act mature and call out on someone if you have something to prove that Eric is 100% a scammer.
