I'm really happy for you and your investors. Please contact us when all your debts are cleared for the removal of your tag.  Grin

Huh? Why?  Where did the option to pay back in a currency worth only 10% come from?  Did his investors agree to be paid back in "worse-of" terms?

Not sure about that. I thought his investors and him agreed on the payment amount.

Yep, I have received USD 2000 from Nick in the form of MtGox codes.

I personally agreed, however I don't know anyone else who has. Some depositors would probably know why I settled, and anyone can PM me to discuss the matter.

I confirm receipt of $1,000 USD via Mt Gox code from Nckrazze. I consider his debt to me paid in full.

To be honest, I had completely written this off as I did all the other coins I lost to various deposit takers. The fact that Nckrazze took out a loan, made the money back and is now paying people their original deposit back says a lot about him as he could have very easily disappeared like everyone else. He certainly has my vote for removal of the scammer tag once he is done with the payouts.

what.. ?

so the scenario below is cool ?

1 - borrow 10BTC at $10
2 - allow for 6 months to go by and BTC goes to $140
3 - get a "loan" when BTC at its most expensive - a huh...
4 - pay back the the $100 (10x $10)
5 - pocket the $1300

Nope, rather this scenario is cool:

1- loan 10BTC to a swindler
2- learn how much pain and hard work debt collection is
3- get paid back the same amount you would get even if you had won a court case

In the end, I think it's apparent that nckrazze wasn't after scamming people, but rather an ordinary guy with questionable integrity. If I were him, I would have already sold my ass on the street to pay back my debt. Then again, because of that, I would be wary of operating such a service and wouldn't dare put all the depositors' money in pirate.

On the other hand, he did pay back is in the process of paying back. So ultimately, everyone learned their lessons here, we can move along.

And that's why denominating loans in an extremely volatile currency is not such a good idea.

This is obviously true, but it probably doesn't apply to this case. Nick got the money stolen (or at least that's the story), and he was able to pay back the sum converted to USD at the time of deposit (on average) thanks to volatility. If the price went down a lot, he would easily buy the same amount in BTC. And because the price went up, he bought the same amount in USD with the money he made by his remaining coins (which may be a lot more than he wants everyone to think). Neither would be possible if the price was stable (probably because considering both is not honest to begin with).

I am cool with it because the other option was the one that every other deposit taker chose:

1 - borrow 10BTC at $10
2 - buh bye

Something is better than nothing, and in this case the something is exactly what I originally put in.

I do not believe for a minute that this was all planned - Nckrazze made the mistake of depositing coins with Pirate, as did I, as did probably half of this forum. We all lost. Unlike most, he is trying to make things right. What else can be asked of him? To pay back at today's rate? Next week's when it is up or down 30% or more from today? I think he made the best choice available.

well long as you 'investors' are happy, thats all that matters I guess Smiley

Just find a few things are strange... like when we had to tell Nick he had 4 or 600btc (I forget) in his wallet.. and he didnt seem to relies.. and needed someones help to get it.. yeah umm oooooh kay...
The timing of everything is just odd... oh and the new car we suspect he bought.. but yeah.. I guess he lost it all to pirate... and then suddenly decided when BTC is incredibly high.. its time to pay back... its not likely at all he had BTC in reserves.. much more reasonable to think he just suddenly felt guilty Smiley

On a positive note, It is great to see that he is paying people back. Even though I suspect he profited greatly.. but yeah atleast he didn't do a runner like the other degenerates Smiley
