Well you have 0 (!) knowledge. This is supposed to mean that you've just downloaded the block that was mined 5 years and 28 weeks ago, not that it will take that amount of time to sync. Syncing should take around a day at most. You could also download the files from a torrent.

That is how far behind it is and not the time it will take to sync. Should be done with the sync in about a day or two depending on your connection.
Last I checked the blockchain file size was around 22GB.
Edit: You still seem to be new at this. Why not download a SPV wallet like Electrum for starters. There is no blockchain to download and you can be up and running in minutes. You can then later download the Bitcoin or Armory clients if you wish to have the whole blockchain on your pc.

It will sync shortly these are just the block dates. The blockchain download is slow when first starting the wallet because it has to download all past blockchain data.

Go out and purchase a computer that wasn't built in the 90s. Excuse you, I used this to mine not too long ago.

Go out and purchase a computer that wasn't built in the 90s. Unnecessarily nasty comment. Not everyone is a wealthy Bitcoin genius like yourself.

I didn't realize everyone here was made of egg shells. Come on dude... the 90s... it was an obvious joke. I suppose I should have said "Stop trying to run Core on an Atari" instead... OP has a history of "joke" threads, I figured he could handle it back in his direction. Fair play to apologise good Sir. I didn't realise that the OP had a history. I was more looking at it from the perspective of being a bit of a bitcoin noob, like myself, and it seemed a genuine question. We have to remember that this forum, from what I have seen and read, consists of a complex variety some very clued up techies to complete beginners. Of which they all seem to vary from being extremely wealthy to those that are trying to scrap a few satoshis together each month, again like myself.

It says my wallet will synchronize in 5 years and 30 weeks Anybody got any tips on what to do during this time period? to be honest: like the others already wrote, it will not take that long. it may take 3-7 days (24hours). the good thing is, this problem will be solved. there is already a version in testing, where it does not take 3-7 days but only 3-4 hours. thats amazing!

So more recent checkpoint can help reduce time even without much changes, but nice to see a lot of work is putting to this important feature (for new nodes)

This, it won't take you longer than a a few days to a full new node setup. This is just saying your 5.5 years behind on your blockdata, you can process several days worth of blocks quickly. It wont take you more than 3-5 Days on a slow connection This was the genesis blocks timestamp ~ 5 Years ago - "time":"2009-01-09T02:54:25Z" Janurary 9th, 2009 was the first block

I thought that the OP worried about the block size by 2020, it will indeed become huge amount of data downloading by 2020, like several TB
