UPDATE
Weekly Woodcutting Wisdom

Good moring woodcutters!  We have reached a milestone, as block 10,000 was chopped recently.  Woodcoin is 2 weeks old.  Chopping rewards will be under 100 LOG per block from now on.  Next milestone:  Block 100,000.  When we reach that point rewards will drop under 10 LOG per chop.  Then at block 1m, 1 LOG per chop.  See how this is going?  Currently there are about 4.7m LOG outstanding.  The long road to the 27m LOG cap continues.

Some other notable progress this week: website is up, whitepaper is out, chinese translation on bitcointalk is in place, and we are on another exchange.

It appears for now that pure Skein hashing makes for a pretty good CPU coin.  With little need for a pool OCminers pool remains down and woodcutters are chopping alone in the forest.  Difficulty remains low.

Movement on exchanges is still small as expected, at very low early prices and volumes of a two week old coin.  Caution is recommended when taking on counterparty risk.  Don't get goxxed or zhou tonged.

It's hard to not also mention we are in month 12 or so of a "bear market"  in cryptos.  The last bear market lasted 18 months or so beginning in June 2011.  It might seem easy to be disappointed in the small number of people trickling out the now open doors of Sauron's prisons.  However remember that free folks don't return voluntarily to slavery.  The word is slowly getting out and the days of private and counterfeit exchange commodities on middle earth are numbered.

Anything you don't like about the interface?  The website?  Anything else you want to do with your LOGs?  Please continue to bring ideas and criticisms to this forum.  Happy chopping.

I heard a report of LOGs going missing..  taking links off until I hear otherwise.

Well I heard back that the LOGs showed up.  Restoring links to Coins-E.  Please post any further information on dealing with exchanges to this forum, I am not going to be an exchange policeman.  Caution is always recommended with any counterparty risk, please don't get goxxed or zhou tonged.

Greetings Woodcutters!

As we move forward in the timeline for Woodcoin, one of the next steps will be to add skills.   I have a team of dwarfs perfecting Smithing technologies, based on what you might call atomic transactions.  The first of these will be experimental releases, the idea is that this technology will be important in the future for a number of applications for example in decentralized exchanges.  To make a long story short I am looking for ideas of what to do with these logs in this project.

For example, one could have a "cooking" skill in which LOGs and SPUDs are used to make FRIES.

Another possibility is "smelting" in which silver (LTC) and wood (LOG) are used to make SilverBars (Huh).

If you have any ideas for other altcoins and how they could be used with LOG in this kind of transaction, now would be a good time to let us know.

Keep swinging those axes -   funkenstein

Block reward going down now pretty fast.

The block reward gets smaller yes, but the rate at which it gets smaller also gets smaller.  We are currently  still above 50 Coins per block, so LOGs are flying very quickly at the moment.  When we get to block 1 million, there will be 1 LOG per block.

Oh great Dr. Funkenstein who has done it to us in our ear-holes, I beg for your answer!

I have been using the Skeinminer program for solo-mining but as yet have seen no wood-chips fly.  I do know it is reading how many blocks are on the network, hash seems to be flying, but given the intervals I've seen the wallet kick out logs vs what should be expected... Well, I'll leave it on for a day, but could you tell me if there is a version of Minerd that does work?

AtomiCat!  Hope you are getting down with the wood blocks.  Chopping with wallet client is recommended,  It hashes almost as fast if not as fast as the standalone chopper and a lot easier to configure Smiley   Setgenerate = true and your mind will follow.

Woodcutters, logaddress.org paper wallet generator is now working.

This will go online at logaddress.org soon, in the meantime you can grab the html page here and save it locally for viewing:

Some woodcoin trivia for you:

        PUBKEY_ADDRESS = 73, // Woodcoin addresses start with a "W"

With me so far?  OK, so in hex we have

         Bitcoin.Address.networkVersion = 0x49; // mainnet  // woodcoin

Now add 128 in hex and get your:

   ECKey.privateKeyPrefix = 0xC9; // mainnet // woodcoin

Put it all together and get your compressed WIF private key prefix:   "W".!

So, woodcoin addresses and private keys both begin with "W".

woodcoind dumpprivkey <Wyouraddress>

will also print out a privkey that begins with W.
