Testers wanted for a micro-jobbing bitcoin site

Howdy all,

A few of us in our office use fiverr every so often (a micro jobbing site). Yesterday, our designer said "Wouldn't it be good if someone done this but with Bitcoin".

So after seconding one of our junior developers yesterday on to the project, we have a base structure ready to be built upon.

Before we throw too much development time in to the project, we just wanted to reach out and see what people thought of the idea, and also, for people to take up early registrations and use of the site.

The site itself functions, though it is not pretty and will need refinement, however it is working in as much as you can list your jobs on there and buy them etc.

We are thinking fee wise, 15% base fee, but lowering this down to 10% then 5% for giggers (People advertising jobs available) as their level and status go up.

Remember, a though we are looking for people to use it, it is a beta 0.1 release.

It's a good idea. My only concern would be the fact that Fiverr does accept Bitcoin payments.

The minute Fiverr offers payouts in Bitcoin, this idea may loose a large amount of popularity if you happen to gain some. It is definitely worth mentioning.

From first impressions, the site looks fine in terms of development. Design needs works and obvious changes such as "Copyright © Your Website 2014" change.

15% fee is too high if you want to compete with fiverr you need something better that just accepting bitcoins as they do now.

I think a 5-10% fee is okay until more popularity. Fiverr has a 20% fee, but this derives from marketing and popularity.

I'm pretty sure that if enough people want to get paid in BTC, then they'd implement it pretty soon.

They couldn't, so they have no economic incentive to allow BTC payouts.

Also, it would prevent them from collecting real names of customers. As we know, the NSA is colaborating with Paypal, collecting all user data:

What if you do a gig for someone that's on the 'not-ok'-list. So, because you made a logo for this black metal band that's singing about death and destruction of America, you're now on a list of suspicious people, and if you happen to have a friend or two on facebook that's the brother of someone on the no-fly list, don't be surprised if you get stopped when entering the US, for extra questioning, or perhaps you're denied outright.

I think Fiverr is based in Israel, but Team America World Police's jurisdiction extends to cover all sovereign lands.

Yep Fiverr does accept Bitcoins, but does not pay out in them.

The other difference we want to make between the two, is that it's not a set rate as in you can only charge $5 & extras.

With ours there will be no upper or lower limit to what you can charge, for example, you might want to charge $1's worth of Bitcoin or it might be a month long project (We will develop a Long Jobs section) for $1000's of Bitcoin

With regards to the fees, We will introduce seller levels so once you have done X amount of business and had X amount of sales, the fees will go down. Fivver currently charge $1 (20%) Then you loose paypal fees on top of that, so you typically only earn $3.80 odd from your $5 dollar gigs.

Not much we would do for $5 let alone $3.80

They still have offices in the US though, which still could put them within partial jurisdiction of the US.
