Hello,

I get this error message once in a while:
"Sorry a nice guy, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
Trolling 12"

Sometimes it stays there for 10 minutes and sometimes it's gone when I reload the page.

Is this a glitch in the software, or what's going on?

kind regards,
a nice guy

You are using Tor and got an IP that someone who got banned for trolling used? lol

I only see that message when I'm really banned. And if your "ban" only lasts for 10 minutes you're lucky. Mine usually lasts 7 days Grin

Could be, but it's a bit weird since registering through Tor is "not possible" on this forum and
Theymos registered this account for me.
I thought the system bans users and not ips, someone could get a new ip-address within seconds.

kind regards,

Access thru Tor is allowed, but registration is not. Bans are account level and IP level. Try a new exit.

Yeah, you were just caught in someone else's ban. Often when I ban a user, I ban all of the IPs they've used.

I removed some of the banned IPs for that ban.

I find little to gain by banning tor IPs when using the forum with tor is allowed. It is very very unlikely that such a ban would hit the intended target, collateral damage is far more likely.

I understand that when banning IPs it may not be obvious that it is a tor IP, but a script could regularly clear these.

Best to either whitelist all tor ips or blacklist all tor ips. A mixed policy(intended or incidental) regarding tor will only hit random people.

Are you joking am i right?

Do you realize that in Europe we use dynamic IP? Wich means everytime i restart the router i get a new IP? Banning the IP i have used would be not only epic useless, but harmful because some other will end up using them. So basically by IP banning you only harm other people.

Oh and yes, Europe exists. USA is not the only country in the world!

whether logged in 2 ip simultaneously also prohibited, and could cause our account banned?

As far as I know, no that is not a reason for being banned.
It's just that if your account is banned, both those IPs will be banned.

No longer active on bitcointalk, however, you can still reach me via PMs if needed.
