336MH/s USB Miner.. Worth it? xD

I am getting 4 USB miners from someone on this forum and first of I just wanted them as a collectors item..

But..

Would it in anyway be worth running these small miners.
You know.. For the chance of hitting a block

I have a topic about this and solo minning on old equipment, there are solo pools out there where you get all 25 btc (so it's simple to do) and 4 usb miners would be like 20w so why not?

Why not just solo mine without a pool like that?

You need to set up a full node. Basically you will run your own pool. If you can't be bothered, use ck's pool. It's designed as a fall back or for solo miners.

Yea.. But what I question is...

Lets say you are the one lucky guy who hits a block..
How do I know that the pool wont just never pay me? (Scam, ban me, stop existing)

Basically he's a reputable entity in this necessary mining space, works pretty much for tips, the 0.5% fee is nothing in the grand scheme of things, and is also a moderator in this here forum.

This is definitely the easiest and safest way to go about for solomining if you want to use a pool. Like others have said CK is totally trustworthy but don't forget this is essentially pointing them at the lottery, is there a chance you'll hit? Yes, Is it likely? No, don't expect to ever see 25 btc waiting for you in your wallet.

Agreed CK is trustworthy and he is saving you time even since he sit up a pool.  He deserves a thanks if anything from those playing lotto on it.

Or how about leasing a 42U cabinet in a datacenter and filling it up with top of the line 12-core per socket Xeon servers to build a CPU farm? If you got tired of mining you could always repurpose it to find Mersenne prime numbers.

GPU Rigs are adaptable and able to mine new alt coins (sure pump and dumps but whatever).

GPU sadly is dead for most.  Electricity price costs more then they make for most.  And that does not even factor in the cost of the GPUs
