What charts say currency (all currency) is a pump and dump?  I would love to see them and see why you think that.

If it was sure it was a pump and dump, the price would be zero or close to zero.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

It doesn't really matter, what matters is the technology behind it. Is the technology behind it powerful enough to survive price manipulations? if yes, then pumps and dumps don't matter as in the long run objective superiority of a product over its competition prevails, and bitcoin is the best electronic payment ever.

Bitcoin IS pump-and-dump!
But we are at a very early stage yet. The real pump will begin soon, within a few years, when SideChains-like technologies shows potential to go mainstream.

We could be the small group of believers, holding up its price. Smiley

I'm not sure about this...

I think that most people are holding because they have already incurred massive losses and are waiting patiently until the price rises to a break even point.
It's at that point most holders will sell, stop stressing and move on with their lives.

The side effect here is that, we have hundreds of thousands of people with their sell price, and until the market absorbs this, it will not continue to new highs.

Unfortunately, I think that this is creating far too much downward pressure that will simply ruin Bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency will probably prevail, but I am not sure that it will be Bitcoin leading the way.
The coin that will lead the way simply doesn't exist yet.

Sodling most of my coin afforded me the luxury of not needing a full-time job, my butthurt proletarian friend.
Posting on these fora & educating the great unwashed is merely penance--atonement, if you will, for taking all ur munyz.
If you need any extra educating, you just go ahead and ask.  I'm here for you--it's only fair.

Lol at selling all of your coins to life a frugal NEET life instead of selling 50% and then waiting 15 years and living like a God. Buy some Kleenex for the future my friend.

I think all of crypto coin just pump-dump scheme
especially altcoins with small cap (and premine, ICO, IPO coins), easy to manipulate.
as for bitcoin, it will be costly to manipulate the price, need a lot of coins and money
and many users here said bitcoin price was skyrocketing in december 2013 because mt.gox pumping the price

Yes in short btc was and probably still is a pump and dump does that make you want to jump ship? aha i won't i think it is great how it has lasted as long as it has it needs new fools everyday to keep this dream alive and it seems to get it  Grin

All markets are built on the old pumps just timing it so you get in before everyone and out before everyone which is easier said than done

How you can say that & Satochi didn't even touch his coins on the first place  Shocked

How do you know that some guy or old man called satoshi even has any coins?

as far as I know , some people found Satochi's Bitcoin adresses (created on January 2009 (when bitcoin got created) & it still contain the bitcoins) . he certainly mined the first bitcoins
maybe satoshi , accidently deleted his wallet. and the bitcoins may be stuck in the wallet.  Roll Eyes

Even market experts are unable to time the markets.
Fat chance to any of us trying to do that.
