Bitcoin has its work cut out for it. It will not be an easy journey replacing our archaic monetary systems. Powerful institutions have not taken it seriously yet and when they do, lets hope its too late to stop the btc rebellion.

But I don't think the powerful institutions will so easily will accept to consider BTC as a official currency. The reason is simple they want track all the transactions but with btc it is almost impossible or quite challenging.

??  lol, with btc it's easier than ever to track all transactions.  That's the point really, that's why it's unforgeable.

At same time you can hide your identity in bitcoin transactions correct? - but institutions do not want to do that. The Bitcoin is a system no one will come to know about the payment or about all other info related to the payment, including who sent it, who received it, etc.

The media hype we're having now is a bit silly, because people aren't even hyping the things that are really fascinating. I have never been more excited to be involved with Bitcoin! This is like a box of toys few people know we can play with yet!

One can always try to hide one's various identities.  It's just a little bit harder to do that with bitcoin than it was with gold or fiat, probably not that much harder really.  This is basically a trivial aside of little import.  The main issue is forgeability and counterfeitability and seignorage.  That's the raison d'etre for public coin.

Bitcoin future is being the backbone of important financial institution, even if isn't bitcoin, is blockchain based tech.
Maybe the number of transactions won't be as high as other payment system. I don't think bitcoin should be use to pay things like eggs or beer...

I don't think so that it would last for 100 years looking at the present value of bitcoins. And if it last for another 100 years than it would be blessing for bitcoin community, at present bitcoin is helpful in many ways but in future there would be more competition and many new digital currencies would enter the market which can prove to be more powerful as compared to bitcoins.

~100 years sound like forever to me Cheesy
not only because i am long gone by then buy also because i believe if bitcoin can survive and still be around and strong, then i don't see any reason why it should not be around even more (literary forever).

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

they can still beat them, that's why they aren't joining anything, as long as bitcoin is a tiny fraction of the world marketcap, no one will bother with it

before government begin to recognize bitcoin as a threat you need an impressive marketcap, and therefore an impressive price

It wont be here if it doesn't keep improving, that's a sure thing. Bitcoin has many problems at the moment and that's normal. It's still very young and it needs time to grow.

What worries me it's current state of some people in the Bitcoin community, especially certain devs that refuse to change anything in the Bitcoin protocol, for this or that reason. Also I am worried about getting to the consensus. We see all these problems with the current block size increase problematic.

I would not be so sure about that bitcoin price increase in the future. In fact I would rather assume if bitcoin would ever come close to be fully adopted payment method and real alternative of credit cards/paypal/fiat bitcoin price would go down, not up. That is the law of that market, so magical numbers like 10k per 1 btc are never gonna happen.

Please explain how did you get to this conclusion? I don't understand at all. So if Bitcoin has 1 million users at the moment, let's say, and a price of $240 at the moment. If one day we get to have 100 times more users, that means 100 million users, how will price not go up if the supply is limited, let's say 16 million bitcoins in one point of the future.

The law of the market follows the supply/demand principle. If the demand is greater than the supply, then the prices go up.
