It would make a bit more sense if the 5 post rule was altered to allow us to do some sort of human verification, instead of having to post random useless posts.
I've started a thread in the newbies forum, so I hope I get some help with my quirky setup and have some contributing posts. I'm not that n00b to bitcoins, but whatever.
That human verification does exist  Wink

Posting here will guarantee a human review:

That being said, you, specifically, won't have to do this, since I just whitelisted you.

This system is kinda stupid being that it promotes spamming the newbie area and staying logged in for no reason.

As soon as you start reading and posting on bitcointalk, your logged in time will soon be measured in days, not hours Wink

I can attest to that. Only thing is I didn't know about the 4 hour rule so I hadn't bothered to register for an account until I was ready to post :/

4 hours is a bit ridiculous, but necessary I suppose because of spam.

First I failed the captcha several times (and retyped everything every time!) and now there's this wait. I guess it is justified, but I wonder if I should've just kept lurking...

Rest of the forum is nice at least.

i was a lurker for many MANY days. i don't consider myself a spammer but it seems to me i am forced to spam?

i don't consider myself experienced enough to reply back to many of the topics outside the newbs section therefor i lurk.

i'm only trying to increase my post count because i am interested in posting in the hardware section.

The 4 hours browsing is an excellent rule actually. I'm only at 2 but already i have sooo much better understanding of bitcoin than before I came here.
