If they actually mint gold and silver coins counterfeits will be all over ebay sold out of Turkey to collectors so prepare for a flood of scams. Everybody is going to want to collect them

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/13/world/meast/isis-currency/index.html?hpt=hp_c2ISIS is planning to mint its own currency in gold, silver and copper, the group said Thursday. Its aim is to stay away from the "tyrant's financial system," ISIS said in a statement. It said it would issue another statement to explain the new currency's exchange rate, and where it can be found. Sounds like they are printing their own kind of FIAT. More scamcoin. I think this is a great opportunity to show them Bitcoin and get some users from the Middle East. The anonymity and low fees are sure to be a turn on. How can we spread the word and help Bitcoin go TO THE MOON!? And just like that, I think your a terrorist.

And i think they better make their own fiat / crypto currency. Make their own crypto with what? How many terahashes do you think a camel can do? Probably none. However they probably have some level of money they could potentially use to rent mining capacity if they wanted to in order to maintain a network for their terror coin

Yea, that's the best way to stop their propagandas and influence on media and you. And the internet. Imagine if they had internet or CNN during WW2? Might be brutally honest, although it can be curiosity-entertaining, the news all the way in the Middle East is often not relevant to your typical life in America. Sure if somebody blocked the Gulf of Persia then we'll return to horses or buy electrical cars but otherwise don't wake me up until they're beheading people across the street from me.

Gold coins in use on their territory, would take away large parts of their power, so they probably do not want that. Either they say they want to do it to gain some support, or the story is desinformation directed at the international audience.
They probably want a fiat currency, there is nothing for them to steal from a gold system.

That won't happen, we'll just steal all their Bitcoin because their security will be shit I would somewhat doubt their security would be shit. They would most likely actually keep most of their computers offline until they actually need/want to push a TX to the network as they would not want to be tracked by the US military as there are very few internet connections in Iraq

He may be a terrible person, but if anything, use in a hostile operating environment by a group like ISIS would show its resilience. And you don't get many more hostile operating environments than the one ISIS would be using it in. I agree it shouldn't be encouraged, though. It'll either happen or it won't. Scum are going to flock to anything they see as untraceable and secure for their villainy, just like paper money.

BTC would probably be a inferior choice to cash, anyway. It's arguably easier to track where BTC goes than cash, or to shuffle it around in silence.
