Bitcoinary.com

https://www.bitcoinary.com

Current exchanges between them handle about 17 currencies (GBP, EUR, USD etc) but what about the other 150+ currencies in the world ? and what about some of the other ways people want to buy or sell i.e. Paypal ?

Bitcoinary is a peer to peer exchange, or more simply a person to person exchange. It's like an e-bay but for Bitcoins. You can create a trading history similar to the bitcoin-otc, a web of trust if you like. Also people can link to their social profiles and mobile number to establish credibility and reputation.

Be a Market Maker

Are you in a country underserved by Bitcoin exchanges currently ? You could make money as a market maker for your local currency and using Bitcoinary to meet buyers and sellers.

Also there are other markets that are underserved that would benefit from Bitcoinary.

Chicken and Egg

This is going to be a difficult site to get up and running, It's going to take time to establish a decent level of buyers and sellers.

To help kick things off I'm going to be a market maker for Paypal trades. I'm then looking to recruit as many market makers as possible. If you're interested PM me here or through the contact page on the site.

Feedback

I think a site like this is key to making Bitcoin successful, we need to open up Bitcoin to more countries and more markets.

I'd love to hear what people think about Bitcoinary, I'm pretty thick skinned so don't pull any punches.

Nice design and idea Smiley
I believe that a few others have had already thought this up, but good to see a easy-to-use web interface =D

When attempting to confirm my account, however, the page just times out - I can load the home page just fine.

I verified my facebook/twitter account just to test, but now I can't disconnect them.
This is missing feature.

I also can't edit my avatar.

Can you also add something like this ( tag feature )
( I wrote this suggestion for the bitmarket.eu service )
Quote
In italy we are used to use "Postepay" as method to pay services/things.
It's a card from the postal service.
The good thing we are able to recharge other people's card without passing through paypal/visa/mastercard circuits.
I was going to ask you to add this method to pay bitcoin on your service, but now I have a better idea!

Tags!
I think that every country has its good/best method to send money between people ( as I said in italy we have Postepay )
I know that it's a boring stuff asking everyone which is his own best method, and then adding it on your service.
So this is my idea:

You should add an option to add tags to every offers and the possibility to search tags.
If you add this, this will be the result, example:

I'm the seller
I put my offer and I want to say to others that I'm going to accept "postepay".
I'll search to see if others have already used postepay as tag, so I'll search "poste". I'll get these results:
postepay(152),poste-pay(2),poste pay(6)
So now I'm going to add the "postepay" tag ( because I saw that it's the most common tag used on your services )

I'm the buyer
I only have postepay card, and I want to buy bitcoins.
I'll open bitmarket and I'll search "poste".
I'll get the same results but with checkboxes.
postepay(152)[ ],poste-pay(2)[ ],poste pay(6)[ ]

If I want to see only the offers of the first 2 tags, I'll check only them.
postepay(152)[X],poste-pay(2)[X],poste pay(6)[ ]
So I'll get 154 results and I'll chose the best one.

You should also add the possibility to safe some tags-search, so I'll be able to see then the next time with only one click.

If you add this tags feature, you will be able to accept every possible cards/services all over the world!
It will work completely without any other implementations. People will add new methods by their own Smiley

Users must be able to add more tags to the same offer. ( you can put a limit of 2/3 tags ... )
If they want to use other services they will only need to open other offers as they do now.

What do you think about it? Smiley

@dogisland
I also want to be able to disconnect facebook/twitter/other accounts if needed.

I see the "Choose a currency." page.
You have to modify it so that there will be 2 editable fields ( minimun ):

- field 1 currency/s: [     ] ( here people will enter the currency, I repeat the currency only, not the service, that they want to transfer )

- field 2 service/s: [     ]
This is the most important.
Here people will enter the service that they want to use for the exchange.
It must be a completely editable field.
If the user start by writting "P", the field must show all the tags ( services ) entered before from other users , example:
paypal ( 23 )
pay pal ( 2 )
poste-pay ( 5 )
postepay ( 32 )

If the the users write "po" then it will only show:
poste-pay ( 5 )
postepay ( 32 )

Another example, the user writes "m"
Moneybookers ( 12 )
Moneygram ( 11 )

Another example, the user writes "d"
Dwolla ( 45 )

The number after the name is the number of offers that are using the tag, the user will probably use the most common used.
Example: I'm going to use "postepay" instead of "poste-pay".

So the users will chose the one ( or more than one ) that he likes.

If there aren't any services that he like to use, he can simply write the name of the service that he only know.
He will just be the first user that has entered this service/tag.

I call this kind of feature "tags" because it works like the tags on blogs/forums Smiley

You have to add also a search system where the user insert the tag name to find all offers that are using it.

EDIT:
I also don't think that it's really needed to show our real name to other users.
This must be another on/off option.

What currencies does postpay support ? EUR ?

Could I not just add Postepay (EUR) as an option for the short term ?

Thanks.

I would like to disconnect the facebook now, though.

Thanks.

Yes, postepay accepts EUR, is used mainly in Italy.

I think that should be useful, for the credibility, the possibility to link the userpage on this forum.

In the Open Trades Book there should be some options to search better in the trades, like "buy BTC" and "sell BTC".

yes, the easy way is to put buy and sell in different columns, then sort them.

I've not implemented the fees yet. Current thinking is 0.5 - 1% paid by the market maker.

At the moment it's free while I iron out any issues and add the features people are already asking for.

Is 1% a promised max? If your fees exceed 1% I would not bother registering. Actually I just registered but don't get my activation mail.

edit: thinking of it, as long as you don't handle money yourself, I don't see why you should take such a high cut at all. 1% capped at 1$ would seam more reasonable to me. Also I don't see how you would enforce any fees if the deals happen person to person for cash.
