A while back my girlfriend and I met Roger Ver and his girlfriend at the time, here in Seoul for dinner. While Roger was teaching me some things about economics, both my girlfriend and Roger's were talking about how they didn't understand how we could spend all of dinner talking about Bitcoin. In their defense, they love bitcoin too, just don't have a passion for the technical parts of it. Surprise, surprise. Girls don't want to talk about nerdy stuff.

My girlfriend sees bitcoin as one of my cute little nerd hobbies. When we talk about money and the implications she gets all annoyed (if not pissed) and tells me money and capitalism are evil and we should get rid of that shit and that people need to change and love and stuff. Then she goes shopping.

When I told her I transferred most of my bitcoins to a brainwallet, she wondered what would happen when I died.

Well, the wealth goes to the other holders of bitcoin because my death is a deflationary event.

After all: that's just this cute little hobby of mine, so why would she be interested in inheriting that evil nerdy stuff?

Mine keeps asking me when we're actually going to see some funds. I tell her it's all tied up in investments.

So she makes me run the calculations for how much I would get if I cashed it all out. She got pretty excited when we ran through that last night.

Perhaps(they're just as nuts).I don't think Bitcoin's reputation in mainstream circles is helping things though (to be fair most people have a poor impression of BTC in mainstream circles,money laundering this,drug buying that.I mean these publicised uses aren't helping BTC gain a good rep for the average man)

Money is just a tool of trade like GBP,BTC,etc.Problem is certain types of people (Govt,politicians,special interest groups possibly) have tried hard to stick an image in the minds of most people that the main uses for BTC are illicit (or shady) rather than just another method of trade (like GBP,USD,etc is today) and I think that such press isn't helping things for the average man who know very little about BTC/haven't really heard of it in the first place.

my SO is sold, she would invest but she considers my investment "our" investment so its not necessary for her to buy any
She was of mixed minds about the mining investment (ROI concerns) but after studying the price and chinese forums she has no issues, she doesnt mind the noise and likes sitting in the mining room when she comes home as its the only hot room in the house until the heater goes on

in short, the only problem is I have to share my bitcoins.
