Is it illegal to respond to posts in this neck of the woods with an lol, or a happy face, or something? I had 4 of my posts deleted because they were one character responses. If this is not allowed I will not do it anymore, but doesn't a reply sometimes warrant a happy face, on my own threads even? Is it typical for mods to scroll your history and delete posts here? Just let me know so I don't keep breaking the Bittalk rules plz and thx.

Why do you want to post some useless response like happy smiley or something like that? You need to write at least something constructive.

Really. It's crazy to think a happy face response can actually piss someone off so much. Have you read the dumb shit people say in forums? A happy face should be the least of the worries. But it's in the rules, no problem.

It's not really because it pisses people off but because it's pointless and spammy and some people just use them as a way to pump up their post count. If we allowed it some users post history would consist entirely of lols and smilies.

No this is not against the rules, but you must add to the conversation in some way. If all you do is post +1 as a reply to a quote/thread then your response will likely be deleted as it does not add to the conversation. If however you add a +1 or a smiley to a post and then add additional comments then this would be acceptable. No mods do not scroll through your posts looking for these kinds of things. They will generally respond to reports made by users of the forum who are reporting these kinds of spam posts.

They might once a person has been reported for posting +1s or smilies etc. It's a good idea to check anyway to see if their post history is littered with them.

However I don't think this would be expected unless a global mod is responding to a report as someone could be responding to a report about a post in the off topic section then the poster/spammer has a bunch of "+1's" in the service discussion section (just as examples) then the "local" moderator would not be able to do anything with the service discussion spam posts other then report them; at least this is my understanding of how it works

Well it's probably not expected and it's up to the individual whether they do or not, but I normally have a quick check and if they're a newb patrollers - such as myself - can delete them, but if not staff can just report them as well which I normally do.

If you participate in a campaign signatures, where you get paid, do you think correct write threads only with ":-)" or "+1" or "LOL" I do not believe it... so.. some little rules are welcome!!!

That's why I'm hoping the software will allow us to "+1" a post. We can indicate our agreement without needing to post. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622992.0

Many people seem to not like the idea of a +1/like/thanks button but I think it's good in these type of situations. There's many times people have given good and valuable advice to others and I'd like to acknowledge that without actually just posting 'thanks' or whatever.

It will surely be in the new forum?

I've no idea. A few people have suggested it but I've seen nothing concrete from the devs saying it will be implemented.
