So we have Proof of Work and Proof of Stake, but I read about a number of other proofs out there. Just cant find them and was hoping someone would have a list to more proofs or a comparison review somewhere of different proofs. I want to dig into the subject a bit more and see what I can possibly think of from that.

Yeah, most people are lazy and have an aversion to work. Alternatives to proof-of-work are for the get rich quick crowd.

when I saw the title (Getting lost in Proof of XXX) I thought it would measure your importance on the network by the amount of porn you have. what's wrong with me

I thought the same...  By the way, another proof of xxx I have come across is proof of burn, where the coins are burnt by sending them to an irrecoverable address. Though I am not sure what it proves !!! |

In general proof of XXX shows that you are willing to spend some resource, i.e. that what you provide was not free to produce.
Proof of work: resource = work = energy
Proof of stake: resource = coin * days = you keep your coins but the number of days is reset.
Proof of burn: resource = coins. You are spending your coins.
The last case is most used in the first distribution of an altcoin. You burn your bitcoin and in exchange you receive altcoins.
