I'm all for busting BFL's balls, but so what?

As long as they aren't holding shipments back to mine I don't see anything wrong with doing real mining for burn in.  It's even possible that they might find problems that would otherwise slip through.

This isn't proof of anything. Not even that BFL exists.

1 burnin  14631221

thats 14mil shares..

think what ya want about it..

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system. - GA

That screenshot only shows them mining for about 4-5 minutes or so.

A: 1595

E: 362.1/m

Not a very long time. I would assume they have to verify that it works in the real world...

If you are a member of eclipse you can see the top miner is called burnin running at about the speed of a mini-rig. They have around 14mil shares thus far.

Tired of substandard power distribution in your ASIC setup???   Chris' Custom Cablez will get you sorted out right!  No job too hard so PM me for a quote

Mind giving a screenshot ? Not that I don't believe you but I don't want to register with that pool.

WOW. They really are making a boat load of $$$ these dudes.

So far it looks like they made 440 BTC or 2800 USD off the rig just by testing Huh

15 000 000 / 362 utility = Looks like they mined for 30 days straight !!!

You don't know for sure if that's them, but assuming it is, that could be the account they use for all testing.  So the total could be for all of the products they've tested to date.

to be fair to them it is quite possible that they use the same login for all their testing?

yes, we do know for sure that is them since it is the same prefix username as in the screenshot from them of them mining and with pool name int he screenshot as well. scroll up.....

I also thought about that but then if they had same account for all devices how would they see rejects and stuff from the pool side Huh

Anyway, it looks like they make quite a lot just mining by themselves. 14 million shares is not nothing.

Also, seems Inaba is in on this game. Easyminer comes with EMC pool installed, they use his pool for testing.

This looks very dodgy to me but what do I know.

On the surface it seems kinda shady. But I think the connection with Inaba is just that he was someone close by that they could meet irl and felt comfortable using his service.

edit; for the record; I am not a BFL fanboy. have not and will not buy their products.....  And inaba's an asshole. ;p

We use EasyMiner's built in evaluation function to burn test, not the live network.  Why?  Because the live network isn't a very good test.  Meaningful performance evaluation requires known problem sets with known results.  With live mining, you miss out on absolute confirmation of work.  Network inconsistencies further cloud performance testing metrics.  However, after units have been cleared, they're tested on a live pool connection as a last minute sanity check.  What you're looking at with that burn in account is the cumulative result of six months sanity check live testing.

Our primary objective is delivering product as soon as we can.  We do not hold product back for unnecessary burn time.

That's kinda what we figured. Thanks for clarifying.
