Advertising with freebitco.in - is it worth it?

I did some experimenting with freebitco.in new 'Advertise' feature and have mixed feelings.

I created and tested few banner ads, my stats for the best of them are:

Views: 13,703  Clicks: 43  Total cost: BTC0.00904398.

They charge for views not for clicks, so basically I've got:

1 click for every 319 views and cost per click of BTC0.00021

Didn't manage to convert it to profit, but didn't really expect to, since it's a small, experimental run.

I don't have much experience in advertising, so my question is: Are the above results good/poor/average?

What are your opinions on freebitco.in as advertising tool? I like how easy it is to set up and manage a campaign, but I'm bit concerned about the quality of their audience. Since most of them are looking to get tiny amounts from faucet, their not likely to be holding/operating with reasonable amounts of bitcoin, which doesn't really make them 'valuable customers'.

Is it worth it? Are there any better alternatives (working in a similar way)?

In terms of numbers alone, that's a fairly cheap CPC. Most CPCs I see with AdSense are in the $0.20 to $1.50 range, so your cost of around $0.08 is pretty good.

But you're right, the traffic is not very valuable. If someone is scrounging on a faucet for a few pennies, they probably don't have much to spend on the site you're advertising.

I think CTR of 0.31% is actually pretty high (considering specifics of the website).

Freebitco.in doesn't allow you to modify size and placement of your banners, you can only experiment with changing colours/appearance.

Yup, comparing to adsense it's supercheap, but with adsense you can pay for clicks not views. With freebitco.in it's not guaranteed that you'd get any clicks at all.

But adsense is out of the question, they won't allow bitcoin gambling ads (or any other gambling ads).

Not even a day, more like few hours.

What did you expect to be higher? CTR or CPC?

Don't know why, but number of clicks jumped by 1 to 44 (number of views hasn't changed). The campaign is paused since 1-2 days before I started this thread...

Either there's something wrong with their counter, or someone kept the tab open for a few days (?) and eventually click my ad. Similar thing happened with the other campaign, got click ~2 hours after it stopped.

I'm doubt that, many people come to that site just for playing that game,so you would get lots of views but not click.

But I did get clicks. My CTR rate was quite good. The question is what's the quality of those clicks, is the audience by definition bitcoin-poor.

Exactly. Those visiting freebitco.in are mostly newbies working for their first mBTC. It would be a good place if you are advertising for another faucet or ptc site or something newbies can get free bitcoin.
On the other hand, probably only a small % of them are interested in gambling with their hard earned bitcoin from faucets.

That's probably true. But there's always a chance some of those newbies will learn that faucets are waste of time and will buy some BTC becoming potentially valuable customers.
And surely there are few bitcoin-rich people among the freebitco.in users, mainly those who earn by ref links (top ref earners list is pretty impressive).

Long story short - I didn't convert those clicks into profit. Theoretically it's still possible, but very unlikely.
It still can be profitable on a large scale, in terms of dice sites, all you need to offset your expenses is 1 or 2 regular players wagering larger amounts.

Are you able to match their offer when buying directly, or better yet - to charge per click?

I'm not sure guys if you are talking about CoinAd but yes thats "click-ad" faucet - positive is that clicking there people who now at least basic things about Bitcoin..

Actually I have been able to sell @ 1 USD per 1000 impression at BuySellAds.

Yes, the audience set of CoinLearn will mostly overlap with any other faucet, but the difference is the audience that come for learning.

Now I'm trying a-ads network wide advertising and I'll post results with them.

Freebitco.in seems to have perfect audience for you, but that's a huge difference between freebitco.in and Adbit. Did you use the same banner?

Try playing a bit with banner's colour, contrast etc. You can probably get much better results by using something more attention grabbing.

For example, I used this banner (made in MSpaint   ) and got pretty good results, as noted in the first post (1 click for 312 views):

While this banner only got me 1 click for 1177 views:

Notice the first one is the work of complete noob (myself) the other is properly done, but it's got mild colours, no sharp contrast, so doesn't grab that much of attention.
