I think the underlying problem is all the bullshit regulations they have to go through to accept donations, like having to collect information. people that use bitcoin don't want to type in their names, they just want to send it. i would have donated with bitcoin but i tried and hit the back button after seeing that i had to enter my information.

Really! I'm happy Firefox user for years and was really happy when they finally accepted BTC. I don't understand why they now removed BTC from Donation Form. I may send them complain letter. If many Bitcoin users do the same, we may force them to change this decision.

Mozilla has removed bitcoin , buy microsoft has started to accept it . << Global computing giant Microsoft has added bitcoin as a payment option for a variety of digital content across its online platforms. According to the company’s payments information page, US-based customers can now use bitcoin to add money to their accounts, which can then be used to purchase content like apps, games and videos from its Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox platforms. >> http://www.coindesk.com/microsoft-adds-bitcoin-payments-xbox-games-mobile-content/

Its just me or the yare making a bad relation between receiving less money because of the stupid simple text "Donate with Bitcoin"? Humble Bundle doesn't got less contributors only because they are accepting new methods of paying.

Gotta agree with this idea, why just conspiracies if we can contact them and get the official response?

When it comes to donations, apparently, the more payment options you have the less money you make...
I guess the OP was talking about revenue per visitor. Maybe bitcoin donations were small ticket in nature. After all, that is one advantage of Bitcoin - micro-transactions. Mozilla should be concerned about total revenue, not revenue per visitor.

Bad decision by them. They had a chance to embrace new technology but foor whatever reasons they took a step backward. With MS now accepting maybe they will realise their error.

I don't understand the rational for that decision. Obviously you should expect more donations coming in with more payment options available. What do they have to lose anyway other than additional work to convert back to fiat if they desperately need to use it. In order words it's just a matter of putting the links there

Yeah you can still donate with bitcoin, but only if you reach the URL by yourself. They removed any way of reaching by browsing the donating section of the site.

I just loaded up a new install of Firefox and the first screen I saw was the request for a donation. I remembered this thread and yep - no bitcoin option.
I actually was going to donate to them because I think Chrome sucks donkey balls (crashes on me 4x a week for no reason and feels clunky as hell to me anyway).
I love Firefox. Feels well-programmed. Tight. And elegant compared to goofy Chrome which reminds me of a tin can for some reason. AM Radio ...
But instead I wrote them this email:
--------------------------------------------------------------
donate(at)mozilla(dot)org
Subject: I was going to donate but...
You removed the Bitcoin option. So now I can't donate.
I was about to donate $20.
I keep all my online payment funds in my Bitcoin wallet. Its faster, safer, and easier.
Sorry. ------------------------------------------------------------
Feel free to email that email address and act like you were going to give them a million dollars, because you like making online payments with Bitcoin, but now you can't.
