We have decided to take down our announcement for the time. We have only been able to reveal a small part of what SpaceBIT is. Once we have more and information to share with the public we will create a new thread.

For anyone interested in the project please contact us through our website.

Hope this project takes life.

I saw the twitter picture with Alexey Leonov, that's pretty exiting.

This is supercool!

I'd love to know more about that vault in space. What's the added value it not being on earth though ? Or is it a proof of concept ?

The potential of this project could be very big. I think people need to be reassured this is a real project.

For me this picture is gold! https://twitter.com/bit_space/status/525681174392610816/photo/1

Looking forward to have more information on this whole project and would love to write an article on this eventually.

There are some deep space missions that we are considering.

SpaceBIT is partially about using the blockchain and satellites. One example is we are going to create Professor Ian Angell's life long dream with creating a Space Vault. Ian has been working on this concept since 1998 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHmip3raEe0 This vault will host a number of crypto currencies including Ether and Bitcoin.

But, vault is a centralized concept. Precious metals or legal tenders may need vault. Cryptocurrencies only need more nodes in the network. What will we do in bitcoin with a deep space vault ?

I look forward to seeing the rest of the team. Bitcoin needs more A+ teams and accomplished professionals. I have talked with some people about putting mining into space. With the electricy benefits it may not be further off than we think.

Professor Angell was for sure ahead of his time. I am now looking into his work.

For my point of view, i think geo-cruisers detection, interferometry, and space supply will benefit a lot from such improvment.
Having hundreds of cubesats with a decentralized operating system/network will be very useful.

Wall-e is coming to clean our a..es from our self-absorbed syndrom !

New article out on Coin Finance SpaceBIT is bringing the blockchain to space.
http://www.coinfinance.com/news/spacebit-is-bringing-the-blockchain-to-space

So who are you then, Pavlo, or Ian? And just a couple of things, which satellite was yours on the CRS-3 mission?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceX_CRS-3#Secondary_payloads

As you may, or may not know, we get hosed by scammers on this forum, so if you could supply some proof of your connection to the CRS-3 mission, that would be great. Some links relating to your other launches would be nice too.

Also, you said this was a pre-announcement, and as such there is no mining or IPO, although there may be in the future. So how does that fit in with this article from July: http://www.meetup.com/CitizenInventor/events/194302742/

Here's a quote:

"When is it launched?
Total number of available coins is 100 Million SpaceBITs. Starting on 11 July, SpaceBit will make 15 million coins available in a limited-time crowd sale running until 31 of September. Every holder of SpaceBIT coin will share in the success of future projects that we fund. We plan to release additional 25 Million Coins when we launch a first SpaceBIT backed satellite into Space."

So if you could clarify those matters, then we can talk about other things like space vaults and solving major world problems.

It is true that nodes are important for decentralized currencies such as bitcoin. However private keys still have to be stored in a physical or digital form. Our vault offers off-planet storage of bitcoins with a secure time-delayed withdrawal. We hope that it will also open new discussion on jurisdiction and ownership.
