Altcoins allow the exploration and testing of new ideas which is not possible in case of Bitcoin. Then if something shows up as useful and well tested it may help Bitcoin and get integrated.

I was of that thought until I found one coin, I really never understood why ppl were losing time with other coins if Bitcoin was all we needed in 99% of the cases.

Bitcoin has severe limitations. Due to being used widely and with huge money involved thet cant change anything without a lot of consideration. This allows space for other coins to try out something different and see if it works better.

Bitcoin will inevitably fail soon enough because of its lack of reasons to use over fiat(get serious guys, the average person doesn't give 2 fucks about decentralization, coupled with the fact that the entire bitcoin ecosystem is run by a few pools and most of the bitcoins are in the hands of a few guys)
