Yeah temp bans won't show up there. Some permabans won't either if they were applied the same way as temp bans. Not common but I do sometimes. Sometimes a temp ban will be converted to permanent which will result in that behavior, also may be done that way if I want to put a reason (either for myself/others, or for the user), etc.

Pardon this question so late in the day - but the only way to report a user is to report specific posts to the moderator, correct? For example - this user has made 49 spammy posts in around 51 minutes (is that a record?). If I do report one or two of his posts, would moderators just delete those posts (if they agree that it is spam) or would they look at his posts and evaluate whether to ban him?

Report only one or two posts (the most spammy ones), but note in your report that all of the user's posts are bad. Thanks.

If posts are done for the sole purpose of getting to the ad post quota, should I report it?
Depends on the quality really. Doing 50 or 1000 posts in a day wouldn't be a problem if they were all constructive, but 50 rushed half-assed ones would be. What is or isn't spam is subjective and it depends on the mod who handles the report so you could get a bad one, but you could PM a staff member or BadBear if you're concerned and don't want to risk your accuracy. Up to you.

If you have a lot of reports, each additional report is going to have a less of an impact on your accuracy rating. For example if you have reported 10 reports and 9 of them were accurate your accuracy would be 90% and each one would count for 10%. However if you later reported an additional 90 posts, you would have then reported 100 posts and each post would count as 1% of your total accuracy rating

-snip- Is the accuracy statistic updated? I read somewhere it was frozen, but I'm not really sure.
Its perfectly fine, its just that the percentage will only change if the report got handled so you might not see this immediately. The other thing that people tend to forget is that the higher your number of reports the less the percentage will change.

I would have thought I would have gotten at least one wrong by now, but I guess not.

How can they be not marked as either good or bad (or are you just talking about ones that are 'ignored' by everyone and they then just stay in the que indefinitely (or until someone finally handles them?))?

Yes, the ones that haven't been handled (yet). Sometimes they get lost in a flood of altcoin reports, or foreign language reports, or something else similar. Depends. While it looks okay on the surface, that sort of pattern can be indicative of either account farming, or someone using multiple accounts for sig ad purposes. Neither one of those is disallowed, but more often than not, as the number of accounts go up, the quality of posting drops, so it's something worth looking into. Report system isn't really ideal for that though, I don't check it that often, I leave it to the moderators generally so I can focus on things moderators can't do. You can pm me with those sorts of reports, I will look into it.

I have reported the posts of this user - Arnab biswasHe has made 48 posts (excluding deleted ones) today - mostly one-liners. I checked modlog.php and found that 7 of his posts have been deleted, but he has not yet been banned and still seems to be posting.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=193142 - Spams the scam accusation section with useless posts... looks like he's boosting his activity to either sell the account or get in a sig campaign. Check the date and time of posts Every 7 days and all posts are made minutes apart.
