which coins would you consider useful to the bitcoin world APPCOINS vs ALTCOINS

after researching and taking part in the altcoin TELCO coins i began to wonder.

How many coins out there are useful to the whole crypto world, and arent just out there riding the coattails of bitcoins success.


I mean there are hundreds of coins trying to be the next bitcoin, but for the most part they dont help the community at all.  In fact they seem to be splitting resources that could be used in growing a viable internet community free from control of the banking world.
we all use bitcoins as a gateway into the altcoin world, and to believe that another coin will become the currency for this crypto revolution is probably delusional.

However the uses of altcoins for the crypto world in undeniable, from making transactions anonymous, to allowing business crowdfund their ideas without having to register with a government agency, to creating a phone that isnt being watched by the nsa, there is a limitless potential.


 I was wondering if you guys could post which coins you consider to be apps for the bitcoin world, ie. those that have a use for all crypto users.

What I see is the ALTS are the incubator for innovative ideas to meet a need.

I also think so, but it is a f... nightmare to go thru all new coins to see what is going on.

Sometimes I miss one-party regime.

thats the main reason i created this post,  I dont want to read through every announcement post.
someone needs to create a website that links all the coins with new or old useful tech.
I just dont want to read through 200 different coins forums when at least 95% have nothing new to add besides being just another coin claiming that it will take the spot as btc 2.0

nem is by far the most promising.. in short.. proof of importance - rewards those most important to the network rather than who has the biggest computer or most coins.. thousands of stake holders each getting equal amounts who went through 2 rounds of sock removal to ensure there are no sock master. written from scratch and uses test based development. beta client has been out for months and we are just waiting on multisig before we launch. 5 extremely talented devs and an huge community that puts many other coins to shame even before we have launched.. very very stable client and very beautiful

what it will do would be all the features the likes of nxt has with its asset exchange marketplace etc etc but do it in a far better way. nem isnt a coin that hypes one feature or another, or hypes anything for that matter.. its a platform that will allow for a plethora of uses. you are thinking of app coins in terms of coins that only have one main feature like anon tx's or just a marketplace or just built in exchange or just this or that..

what nem is, is a coin that focuses on solving problems with current systems aswell as building features. nem isnt just a coin with a feature, its a platform that will support many many features... i think the current plan is first get multisig implemented then the asset exchange and then business rules(rule based transactions ie. send coins once x.y.z has happened and lots of other things)

well currently the only thing you can do is send and receive nem.. we havnt launched yet.. multisig which nxt still doesnt have after a year will be implemented in nem by launch so thats one thing.. we will also have all the features that nxt has but will be implemented in a far more user friendly way.. the ideas being tossed around are fantastic.. poi will play a big part in the user friendliness in ways you wouldnt think, as far as i know at least. bare in mind nxt has a years worth of development advantage..

one feature actually that is implemented already is remote harvesting.. this is a fantastic feature as i can set the nem infrastructure server running on a server and run nem community client locally, start remote harvesting, turn off my computer and it continues harvesting on the server.. the coins go direct to the my local wallet. an added advantage of this is that once i have set up remote harvesting, i can start ncc which is very very fast and open the client in browser, nem starts running instantly with out having to wait for nis to boot up and the blockchain is fully up to date in the time it takes to load the webpage page.. this eliminates the need to wait for blockchain scans, catching up on blocks and i can harvest with a cold storage account. you can also boot the remote nis using an account with a trivial amount of nem in it so that important info about your cold storage account isnt sent across the network.

i know its not a feature but distribution is still very very important.. these are some stats prior to redemption on the AE.. no doubt that it is not completely accurate now and will be somewhat different after launch but the amount of variability is limited. https://forum.nemcoin.com/economics/nem-distribution-stats/

You might want to look at Gems, an exciting project i'm personally looking forward too. It's an attention economy based 2.0 token coming with an app build on top of Bitcoin with the primarely goal to make it easier for the common person entering the Bitcoin ecosystem. It's consumer friendly with innovative features that make sense to use, but whats more important is the team behind it is very well experienced and seem to have some legit connections. Although it's has not been released yet, i recently made a Dutch thread on this aswell.

Thanks for some critical thinking food!
It's useful to the Bitcoin World because the OS is designed from the ground up
to be Secure and Malware resistant and will be able to be used with Bitcoin itself..

IMO:
What I see is the ALTS are the incubator for innovative ideas to meet a need.
We all know I'm closely involved in KoreCoin and the KorePhone mainly though
ALL Communication Alt's are of interest to me since we all need to communicate
openly free from oppression as it used to be.

This in particular was why we introduced a new Mobile OS to address these issues
called Æther v 0.1 Krypton to be used in the KorePhone K1.
We realized we could not fork Android no matter how much you try to "clean it up" nor
Windows as it's heavily patched.

Ubuntu seemed a good choice but that too is compromised.
So we realized this was a dead end and someone would have to start from the beginning
with Security and Malware in mind and this is exactly what we did.

Sure Mozilla, Amazon and others are pursuing the Smart Phone markets
but not with Security and Malware in mind. Perhaps it could be said it's
the very opposite no matter what claims they make desiring for you to "Feel Secure" or
that these behemoths are "changing their ways". They can and will never be able to change
in such a way to offer full unfettered Security without back doors and intended Malware use.

The API's, SDK and Documentation to be released 12-15-14
so the Mobile App coders can get started.

We will have have our own uniquely written Address to Address Bitcoin and KoreCoin calling
with the option open for use with other ALTS that meet an ethical criteria.

This is not some DARK Project.
This IS about LIGHT.

imo, it takes more than "being the best" for a project to be as successful as bitcoin.  we see awesme projects all around like nxt, ripple, bitshares, nem, stellar, halo., etc.. etc.  but to bring them forward you need a good team of people, business people, who know what they're doing.

imo, ripple, stellar, bitshares could succeed not because they are the best project, but because they have the backing of people or companies with deep pockets and they could provide assistance and the know-how on the business side as well.

let's also wait for ethereum to come out.

hows about a small group, with enough ambition, who strongly believe that financial systems, including retirement funds, medical aid, funeral insurance, and all that crap can be decentralized?
hows about market places, purchasing and delivery being decentralized and trustless?
even the devs will be anonymous, and it between 1 and 5 levels of management can become obsolete?

The past year has proven that the bitcoin and altcoin space is a tiny community that can't rely on itself...
If big things are going to happen next year, but it will only come out of consolidation
