When will the POW period over? it seems not much time left, right? and the hash is huge.
Unless I missed something 500k/49 = block 10204 is the end of POW, current block is 7088 end of PoW is not set by block number but with a timestamp value that is: Sat 20 Dec 2014 12:00:00 PM EST So would that make the total under 500k POW?

This PoW mining for XPY went epic...who missed the train better buy in now that is not so late!!! Imagine the rise of price and usability in the next days/weeeks/months. They're doing a good job, nothing special but surely strongly and properly done! If you would come and buy some XPY on https://betasharex.com/trade/XPY/BTC Ok. I'll buy a little.

If you are going to leave your BTC on an exchange please send it to this address instead 1GH3ub3UUHbU5qDJW5u3E9jZ96ZEmzaXtG, I will at least use the money better than someone who steals it from the exchange. Thanks

I have to admit this coin is probably the fastest growing altcoin at the moment. Its success still depends on Bitcoin though and bitcoin isn't doing well.

Well who knows. I know Bitcoin is coming down in price maybe this year Bitcoin crashes instead of going above $1,400 like last year and it goes to $30.00 Am happy its actually coming down gives more people the opportunity to buy cheap save for future and am going to be stocking up on some more shortly.

well, it is good time to buy some in bittrex. True however am trading and making coins as mining finished shame tho would of been nice to make 1,000 of them didnt even brake double figures would of also been nice. But on a good note was good for what I generated as only turned me miners on for the coin and their back to collecting dust again now.

I'm not understanding something here....
I started mining earlier this year starting with Bitcoin and Litecoin and have pretty much stuck with them.
I started mining XPY just a few days ago ( I was not paying attention when it launched )
Last night I noticed minerpools.com , where I was mining, stopped mining. So this morning I looked again, still stopped. So I did some googling and found that the PoW has ended.
What is that? PoW? Is that the end of the coin mining? Is XPY being mined in "sections"? ... basically ... WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
As I have mentioned, I have only really been mining 2 ongoing major coins and have no real experience outside of those.
Thanks

PoW - Proof of Work - it's just traditional mining. Some coins has also Proof of Stake. This coin has these two. After specific date or block next blocks are mined by this way.

So with this XPY, the PoW is like the beta phase to see if things are working right? Then it switches to PoS for the operational phase?
I also put off setting up a wallet, call it "lazy", call it "Lets see how this mines first then set up the cold storage wallet", I just put it off ... now, I'm trying to find where I can download it for linux.... nothing but dead links and dead buttons. I also read that the XPY github folders are now private.
Any idea where I can get the wallet while waiting for XPY to go to PoS?
Thanks

PoW is traditional mining (for example bitcoin) and Staking is different method (you have to search on the Internet) in some coins. Now XPY is only PoS.

Looking forward to some stake but am currently trading it as it seems lots of active trades and cryptsy seems to be updating wallet right now so cant do any trades with them. Wasnt aware their was any new wallet out yet unless done for the POW ending and POS starting to take place.

XPY is product of GAW, so mostly you may find your answer in their forum or at hashtalk.org POW is not beta phase, its how to distribute the coin and after its ended (certain block), networks will stop generate coin by solving it (with mining equipment). POS is another type of mining coin, you dont need mining equipment here, just some amount of coin. Better knows as interest that paid to coin holder that willing to stake it.
