SP20 - Review
0) General information + Hardware Needed1) Unpacking2) The Miner3) Install4) Conclusion0) General Information + Hardware NeededThis miner is an little machine that packs a punch. With it's long sleek design and use of the Spondoolies-Tech RockerBox ASICs you have a miner with a lot of potential. It could be arguably the miner with the most versatility. Let it use it's power and be able to be pushed to speeds of up to 1.7T or under clock that same machine to 700-800 watts and get over 1.2T! (Credit to philipma1957 on under clock info -

Hardware needed in addition to SP20 miner.
- Standard power supply with 4 PCI-E 6 Pin adapters (Suggested 1200 watts or bigger)(*With it's amazing under clock some are using a good amount smaller)
- Computer to set initial pool and configuration settings
- Network cables - 1 network cable to go to your network
1) UnpackingI was very impressed with the shipping. It made it to the United States in around three day’s of shipping. The box shown below was made to take a beating. The SP20 is packed with cardboard stratigaclly placed to keep it from ever being touched in shipping.
2) The MinerBelow are images to showcase the miner.
3) InstallThe install is very easy. You will need to install the 4 PCI-e cables to a proper power supply for your settings. I am using a lightning 1300 in the case of this install. Next use that network cable to connect your miner to your network. You will receive a miner with DHCP enabled allowing it to connect to your network no matter what IP address range you use.
They also have a very nice feature with the following web address it shows the Spondoolies gear on your network -
www.myminer.io . This is shown below it is a very nice feature if you are not using static IP's.
4) ConclusionThe SP20 was the perfect miner to put in my new mining area. It is very cold and the miner endures single digit Celsius readings. I am able to run at the around high 1.6 – 1.7T. It ran perfect in the cold and I had no issues with temperature. Noise was not a issue with my mining area. The duct fan was actually louder then the SP20 but it is not something that you will be mining with in your living room (unless underclocked and fan is turned down).
I cannot stress the asset of its versatile over and under clocking. Right now with the crazy mining prices I am much more worried about getting the higher end of the miners ability. With decent priced electricity I can worry about hash rate alone. In a few months I will be worried about efficiency and will be using the great under clocking ability.
I want to thank Spondoolies for a great product. I am happy to try to answer questions if you have some. With wanting high hashrate and operating in the cold hopefully this review will have a slightly different view. I was lucky enough to meet Spondoolies in The North American Bitcoin Conference in Chicago. I can say they are just as pleasant to talk to in person as they treat customers online.
