Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

This is good of course; but it's not indicative of any growth of bitcoin in the wider economy.

It's all existing bitcoiners buying bitcoin mining gear for bitcoins.  If there were no such thing as bitcoin; these transactions would never have happened.

To get justifiably excited about this sort of record breaking announcement we would need to see it being made up of thousands and thousands of small, every day transactions, that would have happened whether bitcoin existed or not.

I get more excited about people buying baklava (sorry if misspelled) for bitcoins than I do about people buying mining rigs.

bit-pay have over 600 merchants using it! That's what I am more interested in, not a company selling mining tools.

If there were still doubts that bitcoin would never be used for real commerce by real businesses, we put that to bed.

The fact that bitcoin enables a cross-border payment option that multi-billion dollar companies like Visa and American Express and PayPal cannot offer, that will show people the real potential of bitcoin.

Have to say, Im surprised to read elsewhere you guys are still holding on to most of those bitcoins and trying to sell them "otc" as to not crash the exchanges. Since I assume you paid BFL in $ (or didnt you?), you are perhaps betting the company on BTCs future exchange rate on this one deal alone.

Granted, this is not your typical sale, but Im not sure this proves bitcoin is ready for these kind of deals; I think you could argue it proves the exact opposite.

If there were still doubts that bitcoin would never be used for real commerce by real businesses, we put that to bed.

Is there a directory that lists your customers (with their permission, of course)?    There may be businesses that accept bitcoin through Bit_Pay that I might would patronize but because I have no way of knowing of them, I'm not buying from them currently.

Why does the title say WSJ (I am assuming Wall Street Journal), but there's no WSJ link?

If that's your site, check your emails for an exciting query from Gareth regarding international shipping and expect a bitcoin payment soon afterwards via what I presume is the standard bit-pay button (otherwise it looks a hell of a lot like it).
