Power consumption is about 360 W from the wall for Power supply i know it have 3 +12V DC input... i think this is for users who have low power supply... so you can use 3 power supply 150w each... i do not think it is a problem if you plug just 1 500w PSU.

Thanks How about the PCI-E connectors? Does it not matter that they are off one cable?

Thanks How about the PCI-E connectors? Does it not matter that they are off one cable? It's best to use two because it will reduce the heat in the cables less chance of a fire hazard. However if you keep the miner and psu cool you should be fine.

I run two S3 miners off an 850 Antec PSU which has 2x 40a rails and 2x2 pci-e cables.
Will your PSU handle it? Absolutely. I ran one S3 miner off a 500w fsp for months without any issue. The cables get warm and by warm I mean barely noticeable.

Thanks for your replies.
I've woken up this morning to very cool miners, have logged in and they are all (3 of them) going about 260gh/s? i've turned them off and on to see if this helps. Does anyone know why this is?

They are now at full speed again. Any advise would be great. They are new batch 11 straight from Bitmain.
Hopefully this doesnt keep happening

Have a look at Dogies S3 thread you might find your answer there, if not post your problem there and someone might be able to help you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=702653

However if you keep the miner and psu cool you should be fine. One cable should certainly not be used. You need to use at least two, however four is best to prevent them from getting too warm. (although two should realistically not be an issue)

That is what determines how many cables you will need and not just that but also the environment the miners are in. So I guess your mileage will vary

I can run 3 s-3's on an evga 1300 g2 psu but not at freq 250 they hash at 500gh each and the load is 1280 watts at freq 237 they hash at 475gh each and the psu can handle the load of about 1210 watts these vary from pc to pc.

You have to connect each branch of a split PCIe cable to a separate board (NOT the same board)

When it comes to powering your miners it is a good practice to be conservative with your PSUs to avoid damage to the PSU or the cables (as any damage will cause expensive downtime)

you can always drop from freq 250 to 243 to 237 to 231 to 225 with each one looking for the sweet spot in terms of warm cables. based on the info you gave us I would go 1 freq lower then what you have right now.

If you (anyone) were going to purchase an ATX power supply today which one would it be? I may end up with a few S3s or SP20s, just depends on a few things, but I want to start scoping PSUs. I have been drooling over at the Corsair website and researching about running 50% - some folks say 80% is better for quality and longevity. Also, I'm not cheap, but I want to be smart about things, do I have to babysit ebay or is there somewhere I can pay an extra 20 and find good used, or what are your thoughts? I like new better because of the warranty with things like ATX PSUs, there is a "known" failure rate, and I do not want to get one of those models. I understand in some situations int he crypto community everything is AS IS, but DOAs are generally covered right? What about for miners?
Thank You

Transaction fees go to the pools and the pools decide to pay them to the miners. Anything else, including off-chain solutions are stealing and not the way Bitcoin was intended to function. Make the block size set by the pool. Pool = miners and they get the choice.

well evga 1300 g2 provides a psu trick switch with the miner. has a ten year warranty and runs 3 s-3's at freq 231 24/7/365 I would not say it is covered but the fact they give a psu short plug helps you to think they are covered. Somewhere there is a long discussion about this on this site. I own 7 or 8 evga 1300 watt g2 psu's and they all work so far. If one failed I would ask for a replacement. I don't really care if it has fine print since the short plug is a real piece of evidence to me that they allow the psu to run without a mobo.
