Not too surprised here. Rand Paul does not equal Ron Paul. He's shown his colors many times before that he is willing to go a long with the party.
My guess is he does this to position himself for a long political career where he can have a long lasting impact; however, I think he's going to be real disappointed with himself for the road he is choosing.
Can't endorse him or support him with my money, but he's interesting to watch nonetheless.

I'd argue that Rand Paul has a much better chance of success than his father. I fully believe in most of what Ron Paul has to say, but even I realize that a lot of it is not mainstream. Rand knows when to hold his tongue & when to fight. And because of that he will make more progress because people change gradually. No one is going to suddenly wake up & start accepting all of Ron's beliefs. But because Rand seems to go along with the party, they are more willing to accept his less frequent outside of the box ideas.
My biggest criticism is he is a 1 man army. Granted that is more than zero, there are still 99 more people in Senate to counter every pro-libertarian law he passes. I just don't think we will ever catch up. Much better chance of bitcoin succeeding & giving people back the ultimate voting weapon - money.

Ron Paul was running interference for Mitt Romney every debate. Ideologically speaking Mitt and Ron Paul aren't that different really, they are ideological brothers if not cousins.

Not too surprised. If anything, I'm just surprised at the magnitude of it (not a simple, short press release, but an appearance on the Sean Hannity show? Really, Rand? Why not just twist that knife in your dad's back while you're at it.) That is what happens when you move to Kentucky.

Bitcoin is the ultimate freedom test. It tells you who is giving lip service and who genuinely believes in it.
... ... In the future, books that summarize the history of money will have a line that says, “and then came bitcoin.” It is the economic singularity. And we are living in it now. - Ryan Dickherber... ... ATTENTION BFL MINING NEWBS: Just got your Jalapenos in? Wondering how to get the most value for the least hassle? Give BitMinter a try! It's a smaller pool with a fair & low-fee payment method, lots of statistical feedback, and it's easier than EasyMiner! (Yes, we want your hashing power, but seriously, it IS the easiest pool to use! Sign up in seconds to try it!)... ... The idea that deflation causes hoarding (to any problematic degree) is a lie used to justify theft of value from your savings.
