How exactly do they trace phone's 100's  of Km's from the nearest cell tower?
Besides, they seem to know where it is, it just takes time to get there.

I find it so sad for all the families of the 162 people who where on the plane. The end of the year will never be the same again for them.
However this is something that will happen again and again. There are every day accidents with cars, trains, ...
We do fly also much more than years ago.

It hasn't gone missing for long yet. They will likely find it.

This is happening far too often for it to be a coincidence, planes don't just randomly drop out of the sky,

THere are over 100000 commercial flights per day. Close to 40 million per year. If anything, Im always amazed by how rare crashes are.   If you accept just one in a million odds of a plane going down due to technical issues, weather, pilot error or crime, there would be a plane crash almost every week.
A plane disappearing, that should never happen. There is a difference between crashing and disappearing.

Best case scenario would be that the plane made an emergency landing in the ocean and is floating with electrical systems not working therefore no contact. I hope this is the case. Sad

Yea, hope this is the case as well but it's hard to be so optimistic, this never happened

It's impossible, they would have been able to contact the ground.

Odd thing is, MH370 was never found, ever...it just vanished as if abducted by aliens. While the information about the new plane is scarce, it has vanished as well(till found, if ever). In both cases, the pilots did/asked strange things. MH370 simply turned around, while this new plane asked the tower to gain altitude.

I suppose, but the thing is, a sinking ship is a lot easier to escape from than being trapped in a metal box which is hurtling towards the ground, that's where my logic is going Tongue

AirAsia has announced a press conference shortly, says there were 155 on board. It was travelling through an area of bad weather at the time.

This has been going on for 9 months now, is there something weird with the Indonesian Air Space?

MH370
MH17

and now QZ8501 !!!

Aliens? Looks like there might be some sort of new Bermuda Triangle there. Three planes in one year is spooky.
