My thinking now is why bother spending hours and days the "work" when I can save myself those hours and days by getting a dollar worth of BTC on ebay.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Hello all, I've just entered the world of Bitcoin, these free sites are a great starting point.

My address for the lottery is:

1BBf9L9i99KR3kL9k14hEmrr74fkRA315z

As an update to the list on the first post, it looks like bitcointree and btcflow.net are down. Before they went down for good I think it came up with a message saying all their bitcoins had been stolen! How sad, where's there's money there's greed.

@Portnoy

Are you alive?

Yes...   I have had no internet access for close to a month now... but I am back now.  I need to catch up on many things but I will start maintaining the list and doing the daily newbie draw again as soon as possible.

Wow.  Thanks everyone for putting this list together, keeping it updated and organized and giving people a chance at winning some random BTC!   Grin

I'm just getting back into mining after having stopped for a year and change...this will give me a great chance to jump right back into the game.

And while I'm here...I might as well just leave this here (12Ebt6cZNwqpMn2KNwk2qiyPD9c9YAZmBr) for the lotto   Wink

3 sites, up to 700 satoshi every hour, all connected into one balance (faster payout), powered by inputs.io, 50% for refs, 10k satoshi for payout (inputs.io limit)

http://freebitcoin.com.pl/
http://freebitcoin.wmat.pl/
http://bitcoinfaucet.com.pl/

upon entering email and clicking dispense , it takes me to a solid white blank screen.

Can't believe they moved this thread after all this time, it really needs to be in newbie.  It helped me a lot, good luck!

yes many new members have many helping matters here from where they can got some coins and new things about all this

I just get back from being without internet access for a month and now that I am starting to get back to maintaining the list and doing draws for the newbie lotto again they all of a sudden decide to hide this thread away in some dark corner??   Huh

Yes very many people have gotten started in Bitcoin by using these faucets.  Over 1200 have joined in the newbie lotto, in a little over half a year, and many others have decided not to join the lotto but have still used the faucets in the list.  Some people feel that Bitcoin might not have gone very far if it wasn't for Gavin starting the original faucet to help people get started in Bitcoin.

I feel this thread should not only be in the newbie section but stickied there as well!   This list is not about gambling. It is about giving away free Bitcoin... very small amounts but free none the less.  The only gambling sites in the list are ones that have free rolls and giveaways with no strings attached. The newbie lotto is also free to join.

This list is not about helping these various free BTC sites but is all about helping the newbie Bitcoins users. Many so called free Bitcoin sites have been left off the list due to making users jump through too many hoops or being interested in trying to scam or take advantage of visitors to their site.

This list is not about anybody, the newbies or the site owners, making much money... I have repeated many times what this list is about:

A reply I made in another thread about the complaint that free bitcoin sites, like the ones listed here, are not worth it... what good are they if one only gets very very small amounts that is not worth the time... etc.

---

Well no one, I hope, is suggesting that this is a viable source of income which
will allow one to give up their regular job.    Cheesy
( then again, who knows what 0.0053 BTC [the amount complained about] might be worth several years from now. )

When I first found out about Bitcoin I wanted to try it out as soon as possible; I am sure many other newbies are the same.

Signing up to some exchange or using some of the other methods for buying bitcoins can be a hassle, and can have fees higher
than someone just wanting to try things out would like.

So using these few free bitcoins sites can be a good way of trying things out... it is exciting to get that first payment to ones
wallet... and if other newbies are like me they will be just as excited to gather enough together to send them off to a friend
or a worthy charity or the like, in order to try sending as well as receiving.

And getting new users excited about Bitcoin and getting them using it right away can only be good for Bitcoin as a whole.

If you are reading this and feel the same that this list is important to the Bitcoin community please let the forum moderators know.

Thanks.

Welcome back Portnoy!

Thanks GoldBit!   It is good to see a welcome like this after the kick-in-the-gut of having this thread moved out of the newbie section, which kinda makes me want to give up on this forum...  ( see my last post on this subject )   Sad

google now has this to say about coinurl.com and anything delivered by them :
This site may harm your computer.

I know they need to make money but I hate them from the first time I ran into them. Kill my browser's tab every time I run into them.

Yes, I always recommend people to avoid those spammy coinurl links.  I don't add sites to this list which require people to use coinurl links.
Some sites in the list still have coinurl links on their pages but one is not required to use them in order to get free Bitcoin ( please let me know if you find any sites which have changed and now make users use things link coinurl or adfly etc. ).  See the warnings in the OP.

I recommend one to only use the faucets themselves on these various pages and avoid using any other links, or joining any programs, or applying for any offers etc.

Unfortunately we needed to shut down our faucets. Someone had stolen all our bitcoins (somewhere around 2BTC). We need to make completely clean up on our servers, and configure it from the beggining. This will take some time.
Don't worry you will not lose any of your accumulated bitcoins. Just after site restart, you will be able to continue collecting BTC
We hope that we will back soon. I will report site restart in this topic.

Best regards,
Maciej 'Dreydahh' Winkler - Head admin of bitcointree.net and btcflow.net

Thanks for this notice Dreydahh. I was deprived of internet access when you first announced this to me and the forum. I will update the list after I add all the newbies who have applied to join the newbie lotto.
