So you have 4 bad hash boards, three have been successfully replaced. Just out of curiosity, what batch of S9's are these bad boards coming from?

I total have/had 6 not working and one  half working S9 Hashboard.

1. 650 Mhz miner From Batch 1  0012016053100149
(arrived one board D.O.A.)  shipping costs to china 70 euro. It took about 43 days to get it back Replaced.

2. 550 Mhz miner - order 0012016070100165
First only xxxxx for this board, after restart board disappeared. Replaced, shipped Back

3. 600 Mhz miner -  order 0012016061800111
First all xxx after restart less xxx , Blade not working. Replaced, shipped back

4. 650 Mhz miner  - order 0012016053100149  Bach1
Hash board not working , RepairedReplaced shipped Back

5. 650 Mhz  from B1 - order 0012016053100169   Bach1
Center board first xxxx after restart no board in web ,  board just disappeared. Bitmain refused to repair , missed PIN

6. From 600Mhz miner  First all 3 boards wit xxxx , after restart one board  simply disappeared  Not shipped yet

7. From 600Mhz miner   only 1 x X  Hashboard is  from the same miner as above  Not shipped yet

it would be nice to know what "PIN is lost in circuit board" actually means.

Barring knowing this, and considering that this is most likely the correct board here is a thought: is it possible that some all thumbs guy at HK customs was the one who did it? I see this as a possibility considering that @Tupsu took pictures and packed it well. This, or the tech at HK repair shop dropped it. They will never admit it, though. What a disaster!

EDIT: four boards out of 69? This is about 6%. Way too high a number for a miner that can breakeven in a year, maybe.

Make a new estimate. Not 6% "only"   6 hashboards from 23 miner
+ one bord with one X

Make a new estimate. Not 6% "only"   6 hashboards from 23 miner

I was going off 4 boards that was mentioned before, but, obviously, 6 out of 69 is much higher-8.7%, which means that, statistically, you will get one "bad" board per each 4 miners that you order.

I saw 15 S7LN and didn't have a single bad board in 'em, but I did have three bad PSUs. One was a shot fan so I swapped it out but the other two were straight up gone. Even considering only electronics failures in PSUs that's still 2/15 for 13%

About the pics of the replacement boards they sent you... What's with 2 of them having a very deliberate looking pattern of no heatsinks on the PCB side? Related to if they are supposed to be center or outside boards?

Also note that that lil' ferrite I mentioned earlier is properly placed on all the replacements.

I do not have those  before. I think it's just a new design.

Is  in the ferrite  somewhere in S7 hashchboard too?  I have some S7 hashboards with fallen radiators with chips.

I was trying to figure this out too, i think that they are referring to the connection points between the chip and the board. If you look closely there are very fine almost hairlike metallic connectors between the black chip and the green pcb. I know nothing of building pcb so this is pure conjecture, but im thinking that they are saying that because one of those little hairlike pin connector thingies is MIA. In my opinion, that would come off along with the heatsink, or it would be a manufacturing defect. Either way, Bitmain is responsible for either scenario. I dont understand their issue with replacing the board.

Probably, I ask assistance from The European Consumer Organisation, through the Estonian Consumer Protection Board.

Thus, a large company like Bitmain ,  only they are able to represent  my consumer rights  in court.

Bitmaini behavior Unfair commercial practices,  because I have fulfilled all 7 points of its requirements by the warranty.

https://shop.bitmain.com/product.htm
Warranty:

1. A 90-day warranty is provided starting from the shipping date. To avail this warranty a Repair ticket must be generated by the customer on Bitmain's website. Overclocking the miner will void the warranty immediately.

2. All sales are final. No refunds will be granted. Defective miners can be repaired for free if they fall under the Bitmain warranty policy. After the warranty period, machines can be repaired at the cost of parts and labor.

3. The following events will void the warranty:

     a. Customer removes/replaces any components by himself without receiving permission from Bitmain first;

     b. Damage caused by poor power supply, lightning or voltage surges;

     c. Burnt parts on hash boards or chips;

     d. Miner/boards/components damage due to water immersion or corrosion due to wet environment.

4. For all repairs or RMA, within warranty or not, customer must return the defective parts at his/her own expense after opening a support ticket and troubleshooting with Bitmain's instructions.

5. Bitmain will cover shipping cost when shipping a replacement unit within the warranty period.

6. If you notice there are some loose heatsinks when you receive the miner, please inform us by email to info@bitmaintech.com within 3 days from the date the package is received according to UPS/DHL/FEDEX's website.

Can you name any mining product that is built to six sigma? I'd highly doubt that and if they were you'd be calling them over designed. We need our miners to survive 6-12 months not 6-12 years.

Well the s-9  needs 10-12 months for roi.

So at least a 6 month real warranty. Not a 90 day maybe warranty.

I had two boards go bad a week apart.

That would be 220 to 290 in shipping since I would not have known to ship the two together.

That is an awful lot to pay for warranty service.

1000 loss as the the boards are about 500 usd each  and 290 to ship would be 1290  lost if the site in China says no.

I've seen probably 30-40 S7 come through, plus 15 S7, with one dead board, and that was on an S7 which had been resold on eBay and returned a month later as defective - given it also had a fan failed, I suspect the buyer took dead parts from a batch, assembled them into one crap unit and scammed to get his money back. I have also seen so far 14 S9 with two failed boards, not quite the rate these guys are seeing but some of them were just delivered last week. Both of those boards failed inside 48 hours of runtime.

Miners should probably be built to run at least 18 months, especially if they're going to be priced at 14 month breakeven. If miners were designed to run 6 months they better cost about half as much. If they cost the same as they do now and actually could be called "overdesigned" I'd say they were priced about right.

or simple cross ship service to colorado if in north america.

make it for a year.  and these miners start to look good again for low power guys.

I am a low power guy with the solar array (yeah maybe 10 to 12 kwatts max)  but still at low cost.

So the current prices work with a proper warranty.

I have 2 lost boards in 18 boards and 1 flaky board.

2 of 18 is 11.11%
3 of 18 is 16.67%

I do not run these at 72-102 or 75 -105

I run them at 65-95 maybe 69-99

Although now  they are all clocked lower to 60-90 for fear of a  third dead board.

I have run s-1's s-3's s-5's s-7's none of them ever died zero.

I had a dead s-1 which came with  a loose cap

I had a low hash s-7  which hashes at 4400  and it still works today since sept of last year.

plus the boards show zero damage  look at the second board I will post photos soon.
