Hi all,

About 2 weeks ago I thought of making a Youtube series about Bitcoin.  This would not be news, but rather a story.
Something to keep the community entertained, and maybe bring other people into Bitcoin.

Please post your opinion about this.  I am not good at making a story so it would be awesome if someone helps with the story or if an episode finishes in a suspenseful way and then later the audience can choose how to proceed with the story after giving some possibilities.

Here are some notes I wrote:
  • I will need a writer or writers to create a story.  Nothing too technical about Bitcoin.
  • Theme of the story, action? First person POV? get something creative
  • Short episodes, at most 6 minutes, maybe even 5.  This gives me an idea of something similar to "The Guild" where the main character "talks to the webcam" for a short amount of time
  • I want to make a trailer or (Episode 0), to get people interested in watching the first episode

Post your ideas to add them to the list.  If you think this is a bad idea then also tell me.  If you hate me, tell me, if you like it, tell me.  Tongue
The forum strives to allow free discussion of any ideas. All policies are built around this principle. This doesn't mean you can post garbage, though: posts should actually contain ideas, and these ideas should be argued reasonably.

This could have potential, and warrants further discussion.

Let me see if I envision it as you do: A ~5 minute episodes continuously written by its viewers, with you presenting said material, with theme, creativity, etc., yet to be determined, but developed from our input.

Are you willing to put your face on camera for this? If so, would you be so kind as to provide an existing video of yourself so that we can get our collective created juices a flowin'? Trust me, for this is not a trick to find out who you are, for I don't give a damn. But I truly love your idea.

~Bruno~

PS: Whatever you do, make sure that Matthew is not part of this, otherwise the episodes may always be late.  Grin Grin Grin (had to add because Matthew was posting the same time as I)

For those questioning his work, Vicente has helped with the Bitcoin Christmas Special 2011 in Korea.

Trust me Matthew on this one! I'm not questioning him whatsoever. I would love to be part of his idea. I do hope that the funny product doesn't come across as too silly, but cleverly humorous would be great: e.g., no dog eating Santas.

But having an Alpaca on the Street (Man on the Street) asking questions to passersby is find with me. I envision a real alpaca with a mic attached with the person providing the voice off-camera, and taking place in some metropolitan area like Chicago.

To personify the alpaca, we'll call him Al.

Al: Excuse me! What do you think about Bitcoin?
Passerby: (keeps walking)
Al: Excuse me! What do you think about Bitcoin?
Passerby: (keeps walking)
Al: Excuse me! What do you think about Bitcoin?
Passerby: (keeps walking)
Al: Excuse me! What do you think about Bitcoin?
Passerby: (keeps walking)

Until finally...

Al: Excuse me! What do you think about Bitcoin?
Passerby: Are you real?
Al: Sure am! What do you think about Bitcoin?
Passerby: Can I touch you?
Al: Sure can, but only after you answer the... Dude! What type of alpaca do you think I am?
Passerby: I was only trying to...
Al: That'll be five bitcoins, not including the tip.
Passerby: I've never...
Al: Obviously you have, for you knew exactly what to touch.
Passerby: I'm outta here!
Al: Good! You don't want to miss Anderson Cooper.

Al: Excuse me! What do you think about Bitcoin?
Anderson Cooper: Can I touch you?
Al: I think I'm having a bad day. Back to you Vicente.

How's that for starters, Vicente?

Al: (to himself) Oh, shit!
Police Officer: Do you have a permit?
Al: For what?
Police Officer: For conducting interviews in public.
Al: Didn't think I needed one. It's a free country the last time I checked.
PO: Still is, but you still need a permit to conduct interviews on the streets of Chicago. Do you have one?
Al: Sure do! Thanks for asking. (to passerby) What do you think about Bitcoin?
Passerby: (keeps on walking)
PO: May I see it please?
Al: See what? (to passerby) What do you think about Bitcoin?
Passerby: (keeps on a truckin')
PO: You're permit.
Al: Permit? Permit! I don't need to show you my stinkin' permit.
PO: (reaching for Al)
Al: Dude, why does everybody insist on touching me there? Why don't you be a little more polite and ask first?
PO: Come with me!
Al: Okay, but that'll cost you extra. Back to you, Vicente.

Al (the alpaca): (to passerby) What do you think about Bitcoin?
Passerby: I think Bicoin is the most... (and carries out for a couple minutes shining a good light on Bitcoin).
Al: Nailed it! Back to you, Vicente.

Passerby1: Mom! Is that Al, the talking Bitcoin alpaca?
P2: Sure is, Nikki.
P1: Can we go and talk to him and touch him?
Al: (to himself) Surely not!
P1: Hi, Al.
Al: (doesn't say a word)
P2: Hi, Al.
Al: (turns his head)
P1: Why ain't Al a talkin'?
P2: Maybe he has nothing to say at the moment, dear.
P1: Al, can I touch you?
Al: (not saying a word)
P2: Be careful where you touch Al, I've heard rumors that he bites.
P1: Not Al, ain't that right Al?
Al: (keeps ignoring them both)
P2: Let's go Nikki. I don't think that's Al. (they both walk away)
Al: Back to you Vicente.
Vicente: Wait! Why didn't you talk to those kind folks?
Al: I was practicing my difficulty level. Come December, I'll only be asking 25 people about Bitcoin, oppose to the current 50 I'm now required to ask.
Vicente: I think you're a little mixed up there, Al. Difficulty levels and halving the produced blocks are mutually exclusive.
Al: Can you repeat that, Vicente. It seems you were breaking...

Al: I am so excited. This is my very first convention. Is this you're first?
(panning down)
Duck: Aflac!
Al: All the big names will be there: Hank, Bud, Weis, and Er, Annoying Orange, 3122 Cow...
Duck: Aflac!
Al: It's a shame that that's all you can say.
Duck: Aflac!
Al: Did you get a voice change after the Japan tsunami?
Duck: (looks at Al as if mad)
Al: Thought so! It's going to be a fine convention. I just know it.
Duck: Aflac!
Vicente: Al. What are you doing?
Al: Bonding.

First major interview with Al.

(after brief announcements and reading Al's credentials)
Piers Morgan: Hello, Al, and welcome to the show.
Al: Thanks for having me, Piers.
PM: Call me Mr. Morgan.
Al: You got it, Mack!
PM: Tell the viewers at home about your past prior to you being the official spokes-animal for Bitcoin.
Al: Gladly, Mo! I was born in the wild...

(Insert following flashback)

Farmer: (within earshot of Al) Maggie, I think it's time we get rid of Al.
Maggie: Why, Fred?
Fred: Cause he stinks, and his wool is of the lowest quality. He ain't even good breadin' stock. Just looks at the hembras, then walks away.
Maggie: You don't think he's...
Fred: 'Fraid so, Maggie. I've seen him mostly hangin' 'round them delta-males, payin' no attention to them cute-lookin' hembras.
Maggie: Maybe Al will grow out of it and turn a 360.
Fred: (reaching for his gun) You mean a 180, and I don't think so, Maggie.

(Al takes off a runnin' and jumps the fence, scurrying into the woods upon seeing Fred reaching for the gun)

Al: ...and remained there until this German/Japanese looking dude approached me and offered me this gig.
PM: What was his name?
Al: Don't know for sure, but he's known as Satoshi Nakamoto.
PM: Fascinating! And we'll return with Al after this brief break. (during the commercial break) You know I don't believe a single word of that story, Al.
Al: Mind if I chew my cud during the commercial break?
PM: Sure! Can I touch you?
Al: When does it end?

(camera on sign: Sing with Al)

Vicente: Al, what are you doing?
Al: Bringing awareness to Bitcoin.
Vicente: By singing?
Al: They say that music is the universal language.
Vicente: I see. What song do you currently have cued up?
Al: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f74bOaJX2FQ
Vincente: Are you trying to tell us something?
Al: What'll mean?
Vincente: First you diss that guy during your first time on this show.
Al: He tried to touch me.
Vincente: Then you piss off a police officer.
Al: He tried to touch me.
Vincente: Then you ignored that mother and daughter dual.
Al: The kid tried to touch me.
Vincente: Then you pissed off that police officer.
Al: He tried to touch me.
Vincente: Then yesterday you went on a diatribe dissing Justin Bieber.
Al: He wouldn't touch me.
Vincente: Now you're out there dressed as Lady Gaga trying to get people to sing with you, to bring awareness to Bitcoin.
Al: Exactly what point are you trying to make here, Vicente?

(back in the studio, showing Vicente, then panning down pass his desk)

(at Vicente's studio showing a door opening)

Vicente: Al, what were you doing in my my closet?
Al: Watching an episode of The Andy Griffith Show.
Vincente: Really? The episode where Barney is wearing the wedding dress?
Al: How did you know?
Vicente: Wild guess!
Duck: Aflac!
Al: Is there something you would like to tell your viewers, Vicente?
Matthew: (entering room) Oops! Bad timing?
Vicente: It's not what you think!
Duck: Aflac!
Al: It's worse than you can imagine.

Btw Vicente is in Korea with me. I don't think that Chicago conversation idea will work too well.

No problem, rjk. Seriously, my posts above were meant as an example only of what such a show may consist of. At no point did I have in mind hijacking this thread, albeit I did post several times in succession, but only under duress, for Al...

This is genius! This would be perfect for Al the Alpaca to do.

Vicente: Hey, Al. Where you at today?
Al: I have in store a special treat for all your viewers today, Vicente. I'm interviewing cam4btc girls.
Vicente: Really?
Al: No, I just made that up. Yes, really, Vicente.
Vicente: Wow! Who do you have there with you, Al.
Al: I have here with me, the lovely BeckyBytes, an 18-year...
Vicente: Al...
Al: -old girl from...
Vicente: Al...
Al: Argentina, who...
Vicente: AL!!!
Al: What, Vicente?!
Vicente: BeckyBytes is naked!
Al: Nothing gets pass you, Vicente.

why are two dudes watching naked girls, I think guys like to be alone at types of shows, unless they bi, or if it was "BobbyBytes"

I think somebody is jealous because they don't have their own show.
