You probably know my original Thread from this URL
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=913172.20
Hi guys,

as all of you seen in the last months the Bitcoin Price is still increasing. And many other altcoins too. Also the upcoming Regulations seems to be not so healthy for the BTC.
So I thought: Wouldn't it be an Idea that we all together could decide us for a new 'King of cryptocurrencies', or just a new 'King of Altcoins"?
Maybe ohne with a small total amount of coins.
If all of us buys in on one Altcoin which would be the winner of this poll, than we would create a very big new major alt.
Or would you left the market completely for Company-Driven Altcoins? Like as the  PayCoin-Scam?!
If you don't find your favourite altcoin in the List, then just write and I would put it in the poll.
Everybody has three Votes and this Voting should end at the end of january.

Because so many asked me to add PoS-Only Coins (or other types of non-mineable Coins) i decided to Create a new Poll for them.
Like in the PoW-Coins-Poll feel free to make suggestions.

The original PoW (and PoW+PoS) Coins Thread is here:

Wow I didn't know the Shadow project. From what I understood, it's similar to BitShares in the way that they are developing a toolkit for entrepreneurs to develop applications, however while BitShares main goal is to produce decentralized based companies, Shadow's is to develop anon-based apps. Did I get it right?

Stratis: Same supply as Ethereum + Masternodes + ICOs + Bitcoin a Core Dev. 90% cheaper than Eth. Do the math.

Amazing that people still get the BitShares name wrong 2 months after the merger happened and it was changed. I guess there needs to be more outreach here on BTT.

Anyway BitShares is obviously superior. Buying BTS, and then buying BitUSD is the only way you can escape this current crypto bear market while maintaining privacy. You can even earn a small yield http://bitsharesblocks.com/assets/market which will become a lot higher once the next uptrend begins.

Now that is a newbie.
FYI: Ripple is not a crypto-currency and definitely not a Proof of Stake cryptocurrency.
Sorry. Don't believe me, you can ask Ripple:

NXT is at least non-corporate, open-source and de-centralised, as well as being written in Java.

And it won't be in Java. Lol.

dude it can be written in paper for all i care! as long as it works and solves centralization!
if java is so vulnerable has anyone broken nxt yet? it looks like a nice sum of bounty on it.

im pretty sure most people who was once against nxt has already changed their perspective on nxt after all it has proven itself.
People are afraid of what they don't understand. that's what happened when nxt decided to stand out to be the first 2.0 crypto.
Let's face it, nxt opened the doors to a whole new level of crypto 2.0 competition, just like bitcoin, nxt is an innovator!

ps. you may have registered longer than other peoples but you certainly don't look like you have as much experience. XRP is BANK 2.0 it has it's own needs and has its own potential but it is not a crypto-currency, it is centralized.

Sigh. XRP was designed from the ground up; fixing all (most of) the flaws of BTC in the process (such as energy, transaction time, etc.). XRP is suitable for the global economy with billions of users with each user performing 1,000s of transactions each year.

Nobody cares what proof-of-X system they use.

And anyway, if you really are a BTC zealot (and I suspect you are), you can always use a XRP-BTC gateway.

Incorrect statement. It's distributed.

From Wikipedia:
"It [Ripple] is built upon a distributed, open source Internet protocol, consensus ledger and native currency called ripples (XRP)".

Note: not centralized and not decentralised - distributed.

Hell, I even have rippled running here.

Regarding the design compromises currently being made by the NXT team (whoever they are) - why design something for the global economy and then go implement it in Java? Forcing people to have an up-to-date virtual machine running on their computer, not only rules out small low-energy devices (such as internet-of-things devices); it is a needlessly heavyweight implementation. I suspect those implementing NXT chose Java not by choice, but because they came from a Java house and aren't good at anything else.

Eamorr:
Do some of research on NXT and Java. Really......'needlessly heavyweight implementation' made me smile, as NXT was designed from the ground up to be a much more energy efficient, low-spec friendly crypto than BTC.
Hell, you can run NXT on a Raspberry Pi, so heavyweight it aint.
So far, your ideas/prejudices about NXT are mostly wrong. But it is written in Java, you get points for spotting that.

Read peoples sigs, by the way. Could give you a clue as to what sort of zealot they are....... Grin

Java requires a virtual machine. It does not run natively.

Someone above spoke of a "Raspberry Pi" - that's an advanced machine.

But hey, if Java is the language they chose; best of luck to them (whoever they are) in their endeavours.

Raspberri Pi's cost next to nothing to run = the network costs next to nothing to run. Low cost = more nodes = more resilient network. You make it sound like running on raspberry pis is a bad thing.

There are 9 Nxt core devs, 2 of them have public identities (there is a link to a recent Bitcoin meet up where Nxt spoke but I can't find it). You imply being anonymous is a negative thing too?

NXT and XRP (Ripple) are not PoS because they generate no new coins. All the coins were created in their genesis blocks. The thread's title implies they are the same the PoS coins listed.

Nxt is Proof of Stake. The blockchain is secured by the stake > Proof of Stake.

Generating new coins (inflation) is a separate issue. Inflation erodes value over time, it was a deliberate decision for Nxt to have zero inflation. That doesn't mean it isn't POS.

NXT, BTS, XCP, XRP is exactly what I'd expect from any BTC poll of this nature, given the relative communities size and dedication.

take a look at mmxiv, small initial coinage (2014), huge percentage pos (2014%), and holding it price very well (often rising even), making the pos stake very profitable.

Totally agreed. NXT is what got me to take the whole 'Crypto 2.0' thing seriously. Strong dev support made it an even easier decision.

This.

Who cares about their great devs? Anyway, the best devs end up working for the richest companies. Bringing crypto mainstream is not a technical problem.

NXT don't have the networks or the capability to network with banks and government.

If NXT had their own territory (or owned a 1,000 acre a hippie commune), it could work great. Unless they get away from their terminals and get out into the real world, NXT doesn't have a hope in hell.

LOL - sure Nxt could do it, but who wants to do this? Decentralized crypto currency should be for the people, not for the banks or governments.  Roll Eyes

So, whatever happened to the concept that crypto could make the world a slightly better place ?

NXT is giving everyone the abillity to create advanced (or simple, if ya like) financial structures and systems using crypto, without needing to ask anyones permission or to go through any form of vetting process.
Would you prefer that these tools are restricted to the 1% who control pretty much everything else?

What age are you? You sound as if you've never lived in the real world with real responsibilities.

Socialism is all very fine until you run out of other people's money to spend.

Buy hey, if NXT techies want their currency to be the currency on Zealand, best of luck to them.

Lets start off with a quick eyeball roll:  Roll Eyes

How do you get socialism out of my post ? Or compulsory taxation......you seem to be reading something else, mate.

Here it is again:

See.....not a single mention of or reference to socialism.
What I'm proposing there is much more akin to anarchist philosophy: give everyone access to the tools they need to control their own lives.

I've been around long enough to see (and participate in) a lot of technology driven social, economic and political change. I've seen exactly how tech can affect societies in far-reaching (and often unexpected) ways......crypto has the potential to change the way the world of finance works.
I'd like it to be changed for the better,  but if you want to put your faith in the current status quo and the 1%.......don't let me stop you.

And lastly, oh, badly informed one, you want to explain to me wtf  ' Zealand ' means here ?
Is it: New Zealand the country, Zeeland the Dutch province....or maybe Sealand, the slightly crazy dude who lives on a flak tower ?

NXT and BTS are well established, have good development and are currently close to their bottom values. I would take a gamble on them and sell as soon as their is a pump.
