For anyone that doesn't know yet: The UMISOO market on Hashnest is based on Antminer S2 miners, you could get 1TH for a cheap 0.2 BTC there and redeem the hardware as soon as the upgrade kit comes out Maybe Bitmain will even offer the option to upgrade those hosted miners at an extra cost, that would be an extremely profitable investment I guess Getting a S2 for 0.2 BTC and buying the upgrade kit (propably not that expensive) which Bitmain stated to perform under 0.4W/Ghash would result in a 2-2.5Thash miner using about 800-1000W for a very good price. Probably the best way to do it but you do have to pay shipping from china which is a bit expensive. I am sure either Bitmain (Hashnest) or Umisoo themselves will offer to upgrade them if you pay them enough extra for it, otherwise there are a few other hosting company's located in China that offer their services here which would propably be willing to do that aswell.

Bitmain is already mining with the upgraded s2 boards. Its absolutely evident as seen in the network hashrate. Like others state time and time again, us little players get the scraps when they decide to sell the surplus (safety stock, where holding cost hits budget restrictions).

Sure, user is able to request to redeem hardware with its own handling fee and shipping cost. Please be informed: User has to redeem hardware within 15 days after Umisoo market based on S2 closed permanently, if you want to redeem hardware. Hardware will be discarded after this period of 15 days and the hashing contract will be terminated automatically. While user is able to request to redeem hardware at any time before market closed. So here is a way of getting very cheap S2's

2x 120 sockets if they're on different circuits, which for most people means different rooms.
unless you want to run it in your kitchen

They've already raised the price, too. If they do get 4.5 T with 1K watts this will be a big jump between generations. That is a lot of savings on power. I would be happy i those are the stats. And all comes down to price aswell.

expected S6 specs: 4.5 TH (4 S5 miners in one housing) 2500W (S5 x 4) 2-3U rachmountable
That's just stupid. No way they would expect any significant sales unless they drop W/GH especially with Bitfurys new chip being out. Bitmain HAS to break 0.4w/GH with S6 or its a dud.

the PSU they already have, they don't have a psu, they buy in bulk what they need calculating an 4th miner put in function 2 months ago is ~600$ They get those psu directly, they are custom made for them and they are probably pretty cheap as a 1400w server psu can be individually bought at ~200$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817377050 To get 4TH we talking a lot more power and standard home outlets don't allow over 1800w so unless this is JUST for data centers we won't see a 2kw home miner s6. 2x 1200 watt server psu's = 2400 watts easy peasy .4 watts a gh = 6000gh done if they want to do it. So it would essentially be 2 3000Gh machines in one case, that and no home miner would be able to run it. Plenty of home miners could run that. All you need is one 20A/240V outlet. Perhaps you mean " A home miner that is not willing to spend a dime upgrading their homes electrical system cannot run it." 240v is NOT considered home mining equipment. "Home mining" means just what it sounds like. Equipment that can be run easily in a home environment. Modifying your home electrical isn't an option for most.

Any update on that case?
No more gear at spondoolie, S5 is way to expensive.
Will the S6 be the next S1??

with the actual market, bitmain will sell s6 very late and very expensive the tendency is to become a monopoly... at least we know upgrades for s2 are not the same with s6. so s6 can be higher wattage and higher speed!

I feel like home miner is really over. No new gear and next gen will probably be server rack style miner. Sad to see that. I hope new company will join and make home miner.

this is the trend as more and more money gets into the btc system, the competition gets more fierce and the small house miner are pushed to the side... i'm searching for a good local place to host an 12u, 16kw rack in the near future... and after that i guess i have to quit after 2020 halving there is no place for home miner, unless the price is maybe above 1000$

yes, Reward-Drop ETA: 2016-07-29. if the diff jumps are getting back to 10% or more, then the halving will be earlier a bit, maybe in max 1year http://bitcoinclock.com/i think i will survive it, but the one in 2020 is a killer

Yeah me too I will survie the first one but the second one will kill a lot of miner. I hope that transaction fee will get bigger to give better reward to miner.

DONT YOU WORRY
you think the marketing departments of these companies dont see the need to purchase home miners.they just want to make the product atractive so it can be on the market for 6-8 months like Bitmain did with S3 and Spondoolies with SP-10
So just wait and the trigger will be pulled soon I am also certain they will be expensive with No ROI posibilities so used gear in lower prices will be an option.
just wait

Ant s6 with 4.5TH with 1k what would be very nice but highly doubtful given the ratio that it is currently running at with 1.1TH Only way this could happen is if their is a new chip and has much higher clocking and requires less amount of chips and requires less watt per GH

BE300 could do it (if it existed) but I don't think it's possible with the BM1384. Yes, there'd have to be a new chip to get past 4TH/KW even board-level, let alone from the wall.
