Who wouldn't want to be in total control, if they were able? The technical traders have no special privilege - they may suffer or benefit from volatility like anyone else.

Don't worry, the price of USD will crash to less than 0.13BTC soon enough.

25 cent move 10 months ago was huge. Today it would be the equivalent of moving about $4.20.

Price swings are getting bigger. Next move up will have the spread be $2 to $4 at a minimum.

meh. it was only 3.5%, doesn't sound "huge" to me (definitely not for bitcoin at least)

the point was that the % scales with the increase in price.

the point was that the % scales with the increase in price.
A friend of mine ran through the numbers and reached the same conclusion. He explained it as the typical instability of systems as they become more complex.
