My favorite quote from Satoshi Nakamoto is :
Quote
The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that's required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust.

Which is yours? Smiley

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Small words with huge meanings , Satoshi <3

He said that on Feb. 14, 2010 btw Grin
Quote
I’m sure that in 20 years there will either be very large (bitcoin) transaction volume or no volume.

and this one on June 21, 2010 :
Quote
Lost coins only make everyone else’s coins worth slightly more. Think of it as a donation to everyone.

one I liked the most on the 3 of them :

Quote
Sorry to be a wet blanket. Writing a description for (bitcoin) for general audiences is bloody hard. There’s nothing to relate it to.

this is Satoshi nakamoto profile on the forums https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3 , basically the only place where you will find his quotes .

Do we really need another thread like this?  Can't you just add your favorite quote to one of the dozens of identical threads that already exist?  For example, just lock this thread and post your favorite quote here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=877568.0

Anyhow, here's my post from that thread:

I've always liked the way this one makes it clear that consolidation in the mining industry was the plan from the beginning:
I anticipate there will never be more than 100K nodes, probably less.  It will reach an equilibrium where it's not worth it for more nodes to join in.  The rest will be lightweight clients, which could be millions.

At equilibrium size, many nodes will be server farms with one or two network nodes that feed the rest of the farm over a LAN.
This one echos the same sentiment:
The current system where every user is a network node is not the intended configuration for large scale.  That would be like every Usenet user runs their own NNTP server.  The design supports letting users just be users.  The more burden it is to run a node, the fewer nodes there will be.  Those few nodes will be big server farms.  The rest will be client nodes that only do transactions and don't generate.
But I think one of my all time favorites is:
If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Best BTC description ever. Will use it if/when I need to explain people:

As a thought experiment, imagine there was a base metal as scarce as gold but with the following properties:
- boring grey in colour
- not a good conductor of electricity
- not particularly strong, but not ductile or easily malleable either
- not useful for any practical or ornamental purpose

and one special, magical property:
- can be transported over a communications channel

If it somehow acquired any value at all for whatever reason, then anyone wanting to transfer wealth over a long distance could buy some, transmit it, and have the recipient sell it.

Maybe it could get an initial value circularly as you've suggested, by people foreseeing its potential usefulness for exchange.  (I would definitely want some)  Maybe collectors, any random reason could spark it.

I think the traditional qualifications for money were written with the assumption that there are so many competing objects in the world that are scarce, an object with the automatic bootstrap of intrinsic value will surely win out over those without intrinsic value.  But if there were nothing in the world with intrinsic value that could be used as money, only scarce but no intrinsic value, I think people would still take up something.

(I'm using the word scarce here to only mean limited potential supply)

Also my favorite.
