Hi

I was annoyed with stock fans at antminer S5. They are too loud.
I bought 2x AAB 15-blade 9dB fans.

They are looking great. Good performance and perfect quality.
It stabilised S5 at 65 celsius (20 intake), and gives only 45dB (from 0.5 m)

They cost about 8$

There is video of my mod:

some photos:

after hour of hashing temps are ok Smiley

170 m3/h is around 100 cfm.

Its low for the S5. This is why your temp is around 65. You should try to get below 60. (IMO)

But nice setup! 100 cfm for 20 db is pretty nice.  Grin

45 dba. Its worth pointing out that the temps are above what would be considered acceptable, even with a 20C ambient and so these particular fans won't be appropriate for most.

One important point: there is 0 HW errors. So who said that 60+ degrees is unacceptable temperature?..

Take a look at my overclocking results - maximum value of HWE is 0.02%. So relax and enjoy silent S5s.  Wink

One thing to keep in mind is its just not the temp of the ASICs themselves thats important but the VRM's and if the VRM's dont get enough cooling, those things will light up like fireballs.
That is unless they over engineered the VRM and it runs nice n cool, but on bitcoin mining ASICs thats hardly ever the case, they cheap around any corner they can.

There are plenty of things on that board that require cooling other than the chips themselves. Won't someone please think of the non-chip components?

If anybody is intersted with those fans i can order them and reship for you.

AAB is polish company and i live in poland so it is not a problem for me.

Price will be 30$ for pair shipped Smiley
no $ margin for me, just tips

to BitmainWarranty

20cm from miner it is 54dB, 50cm 43 dB
you can sleep near thoose fans no problem Smiley

S5 is hashing 40 hours with no issues.

maybe you should consider cooperation with AAB and ship unit with thoose fans ?

Nice...

by the the new BM1384 chip has a max operating temp of 125c...(weather it's ambient or chip temp not sure) but either way, it can run 60-70c just fine..that's why the software has a stop mining is reached 80c checkbox. Smiley

see for your self:

I said this in the other thread, 125C is a TJ, the sensor you're reading is likely on the PCB and so when its reading 70C, its probably 120C on the actual chip. Do your own research before asking others to do their research when your advise may be catastrophic for their products.

Mine, a pair has been running at 70 C low to 76C high for a week, less than 10 HW errors every day.

Clueless ?? It's dogie man! You should take time to read a little bit more the forum and learn about what your talking about.

Dogie is highly respected in the community for evaluation of all kind of miner.
