I'll keep this thread here so if anyone else has a similar issue they can hopefully resolve it by reading this.

Ok, now I have your attention.

I got a BFL single from another forum member, the unit had never been used until I hooked it up. It was running fine on one of my rigs when I went to check on it a little while ago and I noticed a huge problem. The front LED was staying on constantly and it wasn't hashing. I closed CGMiner and reopened it... nothing. I unplugged the usb cable, waited a few seconds, and plugged it into another usb slot..... nothing.
I unplugged the unit for a few minutes then powered it back on..... nothing. I restarted the rig and all of a sudden it wouldn't even see the single.
I decided to try it on my laptop, LED stays on but laptop doesn't see it. I power cycled it and I get the same thing.

What the fukkkkk can I do to get this damn thing working again??

Win 7 x64
CGMiner 2.5.0

Well you need to start at the beginning.

Have you fired easyminer and tried autotune? Have you power-cycled the unit between tries? Do the nonce leds (right side of board) light up or blink?

I would start by running diagnostics on easyminer after you verify that windows assigns a COM port to the device.

Tired of substandard power distribution in your ASIC setup???   Chris' Custom Cablez will get you sorted out right!  No job too hard so PM me for a quote

I ran auto-tune and it selected a 700 something firmware. I power cycled between tries. The nonce LED's light up and stay solid.

I just got my laptop to recognize it, the usb connection on the single seems a little touchy. Going to play with the unit and see if I can get it hashing even thought the front LED is still constant.

You should powercycle it, then verify that the firmware took using easyminer (right click, info).v It should say firmware integrity check passed, and show a bunch of info.

FTDI drivers??

(thx for the info on the light, I read another thread where someone said that the light staying on means it's throttling)

You should powercycle it, then verify that the firmware took using easyminer (right click, info).v It should say firmware integrity check passed, and show a bunch of info.
I got my laptop to recognize it, the usb connection is very touchy. Going to hook it back up to my rig and see if it works. Will report back shortly.

After smoking a cigarette and taking a few deep breaths I managed to get it working. Somewhere along the line something happened that messed with the firmware. I uploaded the 832 firmware, ran a light diagnostic, and everything seems to be fine now. It's happily hashing away and all is well with the world. I'll keep an eye on it and try being more rational with the unit. This is my only BFL single and I freaked out when things went wrong but now I know how to troubleshoot which will hopefully prevent future problems. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

I ran auto-tune and it selected a 700 something firmware.

Isn't the 792 firmware borked? Maybe the auto-tune loaded it, when it shouldn't of?

Tips? 1crazy8pMqgwJ7tX7ZPZmyPwFbc6xZKM9
