Hi,

I know the owners of this forum generally don't care and simply enjoy round after round of advertisement auction revenue, but a bunch of humans that do care are basically fighting for our forum over at marketplace/gambling.

We have tried everything to get an HYIP sub, or a marketplace/ponzi, marketplace/hyip, whatever but get them the fuck out of gambling please.

we really, really love our bitcoin gambling discussion.  I want it back, and I know others feel the same.

You are right. This apparently happens every so often in the gambling section when one ponzi is successful then many others try to follow in their footsteps and try to scam various gamblers.

I do agree that there should be some kind of HYIP/ponzi section outside of the main gambling section. When we do have ponzi crazes they all seem to make it no fun for people who want to gamble in a fair way

it's a simple matter of:

- gamblers = one group
- ponzi / HYIP scammers = another group
- there exists slight overlap in groups
- the ponzi scammers set up simple sites that are easily copied
- "One site per thread" is easily skirted by continuously re-branding the same 100 yr old scam
- thus ponzi scammers get free advertising and continue to multiply their threads
- bitcoin gambling enthusiasts/operators lose

Yep, I totally agree.  Has there been any movement on this?  I actually like both but yeah, they should be separated.  But I do like gambling more and would actually like to engage more in gambling discussions but it's hard to weed through all the ponzi stuff.

I think you are pretty much right. Especially with the fact that most ponzis are essentially a copy of eachother. This does skirt the rule that only one thread per site is allowed as the same person can make 3 or 4 almost identical sites then open 4 threads (one about each site).

I think it's a pretty good idea to have a separate section for them... They've been booming lately and filling the Gambling zones!

Also, they'll eventually die off, and if they are sit in one section, it will be easier to delete all the threads... Cheesy haha

I've been putting negative trust on anyone trying to scam people by running a ponzi on here.
99% of them are newbies...

This has come up before. The main issue is that ponzis are very similar to both other gambling sites and real investment sites, so it's difficult to create a category that includes exactly the right things. How about this:

Quote
Investor-based games
Games where the main factor is whether or not new "investors" join the game. Also any Bitcoin-denominated investment product with an APR of 15% or more, which are similarly risky even if they're not actually paying interest using investor deposits.

Would this description cover any real investments or non-ponzi gambling sites? Would it fail to cover any ponzis that have existed in the Bitcoin ecosystem?

Also, are any actual users of the Gambling section irritated by this, or are people just trying to hide this kind of game? Is anyone against the creation of this section?

I was doing that too, but they keep making new accounts. I feel like people are going to throw their money in there with or without negative trust.

Yes , because a simple negative trust will not stop their intention. However I agree with the other users , we need a new child board only for the hiyp and the various ponzi.

I just realized that most ponzi operators violate the "no more than 24 hours between bumbps/updates" rule. They are basically spamming to stay on the first page of the gambling section, which moves fast.
Thus I think its a good idea to stop bumping their threads for free with warnings/mockings/etc and keep reporting their spam.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Yes in this case we should report them, and the staff should ban  these users.

These scams should be outright removed or at the very least placed in their own section. I'm surprised we're still arguing over this.

I think most of the ponzis should just be moved to the Games and section. After all, thats what they are.

If it has a homepage -> Gambling
If it does not -> Games and Rounds

Ponzi or not does not matter as long as we dont have a new section.

I agree it is annoying but I like to think it is a self correcting problem as the people stupid enough to send their coins to a "game" that is synonymous with scam will quickly tire of throwing their money away.
