Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Oh ok that sounds about right.

I was going to warn you to stay out of casinos but it may not be warranted. Grin

I've solved 6 blocks for Slush and I've only got 240 BTC on payouts. Anyways it's a zero sum game(minus fee), so I can't really complain.

solo or pool?

If he was solo, he would of only have 50 BTC as all he has done is 1 block.
What a stupid question, isn't it obvious he's in a pool?

It's not stupid. The one time I found a block recently was when my pools were down. I fell back to solo and it hit a block.

It's hard to do these days. Found plenty of blocks a long time ago solo when CPU were worth something.

Hmm,  I've found two blocks on Ozco and one on BTC guild.  So your saying that if I was solo mining with my 500Mhash I would be ahead?  Maybe maybe not.

I can't believe he has only found one block on a pool all this time with that hash rate.

That's why I was warning him about casinos.  Bad luck that one.

Its amazing that you guys can itemize like that.  I have found pooled blocks but I have no idea how many or what the pool reward was! Shocked

I guess I am just jaded that I could never find a 'real' block. Sad

FWIW, I'm at ~3 BTC per day w/6-7GHash/S pool-hopping with Bithopper across Bitcoins.lc, DeepBit, and MTRed as my backup.
