Hi, I am looking to start mining possibly and it seems pretty cool. If i were to buy 100 dollars of block erupters or however the most efficient way of doing it with a hundred dollars, how long would it take to get 1 bitcoin? this $100 does not include a computer to run the stuff on like a raspberry pie. from gh/s to bitcoins you have just for my own calculations? Thanks

From what I have read about the small asic usb gadgets and other low gh/s devices it will take you around 3yrs to make one bitcoin. Read some of hardware reviews on here for the bigger ones. Then see if you can find one on ebay or a local swap in you area. Chances are you'll find one in your price range. Good Luck to you.

Thats assuming difficulty wont go up, which it will. In reality, you will probably never mine 1 BTC And dont forget to factor in electricity cost, which will be far more than $100 over the years.

Block erupters is very out dated gear, you would be even be consider lucky if you recover 10% of what you paid. So the answer to your question is never.

You will never ROI, the price per gh for block erupters is very high, making it efficient for miners seeking for profits. You also need a usb hub to power the block erupter, dont forget about cooling and space. Buying a Antminer S4 would be a better idea than buying block erupters. Unless you are learning about bitcoin, donn't buy block erupters.

With 100 dollars worth of hardware, it would be hard to even make 0.1 bitcoin in a year haha

Mining game is probably over. There is so much more useful things $100 can buy; better to buy them.

You may not get 1 BTC, but if you get some cheap gpu card, and you have low cost of electricity, you may mine some alts and get that 1 BTC, but not very fast either.

Let's put it this way. It'd take you shorter to make 1 Bitcoin from leveling up and being a participant in a Signature Campaign in Bitcointalk, before you'd even get a fraction of a Bitcoin with $100 mining hardware.
With $100 today, you can buy 0.44 BTC which can possibly be worth alot more than your $100 investment.
Just buy it.

Echoing the sentiment of buying $100 BTC (eg: Coinbase) vs mining equipment.
The $100 you spend on mining equipment likely won't recoup its cost.

I started my bitcoin mining experience with $67. Got a rockminer r-box 2. Had an old power supply to power it. Don't listen to the nay sayers, try it for yourself. It's a pretty cool hobby. But be warned, it is very addicting. I've since got 2 antminer s3s, and I'm currently deciding between 1 s5, a spondoolies sp20 or 3 more S3s. The pool you decide to go with will be a big factor on what you make. Also, there are other sha256 coins that you can mine and trade for BTC.(or hold and hope for the best.) Good luck whatever you decide.

Odds are unless you get an exceptional deal from somebody wanting to exit the mining game completely that $100 worth of gear will never earn you 1 BTC.

That doesn't even compare. For example with bitmixer, which I'm posting for, you can get 0.13 BTC a month, so you can reach 1 BTC in about 8 months . A 100 USD of mining gear will never allow you to get the same amount of BTC, unless you can power it for free. Even then it will take at least twice longer so it's a complete waste of time and money.

Just buy it directly and save the headache. Price could drop below $200 again soon.

You are better off buying 0.5 BTC for around $100 Because it is a near guarantee you will NEVER get your ROI with those devices nor will you ever generated more than 0.001 ( in other word a hundredth of a bitcoin ). While there is not guarantee the price of BTC will go up nor is there a guarantee the price of BTC will not be worth less then it is today you have a better chance at increasing your investment.

The price right now as per preev for 1 bitcoin is 222.9 USD, so why go all the hassles of purchasing a miner and spending money on electricity and time to make 1 bitcoin when you can just by 0.4488 Btc with $100 right away.
